...There are barely any threads on the environment here.

Everything is likely to go so terribly wrong within our children’s lives and yet most of the population bury their heads.

I am so impressed by the many amazing women on here - I feel like we could be a real force for positive change.

Erm because we may be discussing it elsewhere or have other current issues we need to focus on

Certainly in my case I don't particularly like being our down and patronized in the same post ... I haven't buried my head in the sand in the slightest I just think change comes about differently , I am also fully aware that I am a strong capable women and don't appreciate it being referenced in a manipulative way to "jolly" me along to your way of thinking as if I am a child that needs to be encouraged

Does that help answer your question ?

Decormad38 · 12/02/2019 05:21

I’ve just been thinking this week ‘should I give up my job and do something for the environment’? It depresses me that the insect population is declining and we as a generation have caused it.

Decormad38 · 12/02/2019 05:25

I don’t think the op is being patronising. I took it that we can all do more. We all bury our heads in the sand about the environment. Let’s face it. I put some rubbish in the bin yesterday without a clue where it was going.

There's an Ethical Living topic www.mumsnet.com/Talk/ethical_living and I'm sure there are also plenty of threads in Chat on the subject - I've certainly seen quite a few there.

Angie169 · 12/02/2019 05:48

OP why dont you start a thread on on what you think we should / can do to help the environment instead of complaining that there is barely any threads on here about the issue ?

I do what I can but but tips/ ideas/ new products are always welcome .

Thank you for the links I will read them tonight ,

I don't think we can be much of a force really. It's hopeless, isn't it?

I agree it's crazy. We are looking at the end of life as we know it in our lifetimes! It should be the only thing we are talking about. Imagine if there was an asteroid going to hit earth in 12 years. It would be the only topic of conversation and people would be freaking out. It's strange how this is different. But I guess we humans are strange.

MissGiddyPants · 12/02/2019 06:10

For me it is because I feel so helpless. Anything I as an individual do is barely a drop in the ocean. Even if the whole of the UK changed our ways it would have minuscule effect globally.

The human race has fucked up the planet but hopefully the planet will recover when we are gone.

JenniferJareau · 12/02/2019 06:44

YABU. There are plenty of threads about the environment.

Instead of complaining, why don't you start one or more yourself rather than hijacking an AIBU thread?
