FUMING at the neighbour

Today I went to work earlier than usual.

I walked outside to my car, and caught my neighbour leaning is door on my car. It took all I had not to say something. He has a huge 4x4 whereas I have a small Peugeot. He always parks close to me and I take care not to touch his car, yet he doesn't give a shit.

I know I sound petty but I am so angry at the arrogance of it. What would you do?

When you find random dints in your car and then see someone "resting" their door against the side of it, it's not surprising to be annoyed. In the last couple of weeks I've twice had people open their doors into the side of the car whilst I've been in it, and in neither occasion did they apologise or even check whether there was any damage. I don't understand why people are so casual in the way they risk damaging someone else's property.

*This why things become issues. Because one person cannot, will not communicate effectively.

"Morning Jim, up early, Cold isn't it! oi oi! mind my little Bertha with your hulking Chelsea tractor, she's my pride and joy !"

^^ the above is called 'humour', before a literalist comes along to tell me that naming inanimate objects is wrong and I shall burn in hell for doing so.*

Erm, this is AIBU. Where people get up early in order to have more time to be outraged and walk around with permanent cats’ bums.

Anytime anyone uses fuming on aibu, they're always verging on the ridiculous.

As plainspeakingstraighttalking said, tackle it directly in a light-hearted manner.

No point silently working yourself up into a lather over it.

Tutlefru · 11/02/2019 22:15

Seems a bit over the top.

Does leaning a door cause THAT much damage? Obviously if door is opened with force and knocks the other car then I’d see your point. But leaning?

Just say something.

TrixieFranklin · 11/02/2019 22:18

Is everything else ok with you? Seems a bit odd if it bothered you so much that you'd post here but then not to just say something to them at the time.

CleanHonestGoals · 11/02/2019 23:02

Someone opened their car door onto mine whilst I was in it the other day, whilst I was parked in a public car park outside my work. I was pissed off. I park middle of the space as I get this all the time. If someone leans their car door on yours enough, you will get a dint/damage and I can't understand all the posters who would be okay with it.

If it's a one off then maybe, but it's obviously not. You need to speak to him.

I don't understand what the issue is, unless he damaged your car? If he didn't, you're just being precious.
