My SIL is 50 soon and is having a night out so I'll need to get her a gift. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea what. She's very very difficult to buy for.
She (freely admits) that she has absolutely no interest in clothes, perfume, jewellery etc.
She doesn't drink so can't get a bottle of fizz.
She wouldn't use a salon voucher (eg: facial, massage etc) in a million years.
Her DD is in her twenties, so no point in a frame for a nice 'child' photo.
I normally get her something 'housey' (nice mugs etc) at Christmas.

I know it sounds next to impossible, which is why I'm asking for help here.
The only thing I can think of is some posh chocs (Leonidas maybe)

Budget is about £50.

TIA to anyone who comes up with any ideas. Shock

I always buy ethical gifts and they go down very well as they have an interesting story:) why not try an ethical gift box? :)

Nice scarf - everyone needs scarves!
Shopping or evening bag
Posh candle
Pretty jug for flowers
Nice throw/ blanket
Pretty magnetic noticeboard (not on the high street have good ones).

Restaurant voucher? £50 might not cover a couple with wine etc but would put a decent dent!

Pjs, blanket/throw, journal/planner, an Alexa/blue tooth speaker

Posh candle or restaurant voucher might work. I know there's a local restaurant that she likes.
I mentioned it to DH and he said maybe a nice bouquet of flowers to go along with the chocs.

50 pound coins glued onto a piece of card in the shape of 50

I've had friends with significant birthdays lately and they didn't want/ need anything.
I went on the site "On This Day", put their birth date in and picked out things that happened on that day in history, famous people with the same birthday, (not necessarily the same year but the same date) Copy and paste into a word document, faff about with fonts etc, print on nice paper, boom! Lovely present, no one else will get them that.
Alternatively you could get a paper printed on the day they were born but they are not cheap. HTH.

Posh (possibly engraved) pen? Cut coin necklace from her year of birth?

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 10/02/2019 20:58

Coffee table book about something she's interested in?

Drogosnextwife · 10/02/2019 21:02

Someone got me a tray bake gift from the letterbox bakery for Christmas, they are not too expensive but they were absolutely amazing and you can pic different traybake to add to your box, so you can pick for her tastes, if you know what she likes. What about a voucher for a fancy restaurant?

DorothyZbornak · 10/02/2019 21:03

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I might suss out with my niece if there's anything in particular she'd like.
