To think I cannot cope.

I don't think I can cope with the remaining weeks I have left until maternity leave begins.

I feel incredibly exhausted and weak and have totally lost my appetite. I am also suffering with SPD.

I've been off for the majority of last week and was due to return to work tomorrow but the thought of this is making me feel incredibly drained.

I just don't think I can do it and I feel so teary thinking about it Sad

I just don't know what to do.

How long do you have left until you are due to go on maternity?

Oysterbabe · 10/02/2019 17:42

How many weeks are you?

Lellikelly26 · 10/02/2019 17:42

You can have time off sick and not be discriminated against because the sickness is due to your pregnancy. Go to the doctor tomorrow and get signed off

RandomMess · 10/02/2019 17:43

StArt your maternity leave ASAP?

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 17:44

Just turned 27 weeks yesterday, I feel terrible as though something has come over me.

I'm not eating and I just want to sleep 24/7.

My workplace are not very considerate either, on top of everything else I feel anxious about returning because I usually get a grilling off HR.

The stress is unbelievable

OP posts:
SPR1107 · 10/02/2019 17:46

I could've written that myself OP.

The exhaustion is next level... combined with a 2 year old, every day feels like a real struggle.

Also have PGP.

Next week, you should have your iron levels checked (28 weeks), that could well be the reason, and after treatment you might feel better.

Try some relaxation at night time, like hypnobirthing, you might find it helps getting better quality sleep

pinkhorse · 10/02/2019 17:47

Have you got a virus? There's loads going round at the moment. Exhausted and no appetite at 27 weeks sounds more like a virus than pregnancy related symptoms.

pilates · 10/02/2019 17:47

I would be looking to start your leave early, all that stress is not good for you and the baby

RandomMess · 10/02/2019 17:48

Sounds like you are anaemic, the tiredness from it is just unbelievable.

Floradix for anaemia, osteopath for spd Thanks

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 17:48

@SPR1107 it's good to know someone else understands, I feel like my DP thinks I'm being ridiculous but I've never felt fatigue like it.

Worst thing is, I can't even think about getting signed off because SMP just wouldn't cover the bills.

I'm trying to think of ways that I can get through these last few weeks Sad

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 17:50

Thanks everyone, I'm thinking it could be iron level related.

Seeing the midwife on Wednesday so perhaps I'll mention it then and explain how I'm feeling.

The thought of doing full days of work is horrendous, I've been napping multiple times during the day whilst I've been off and still waking up feeling knackered

OP posts:
RandomMess · 10/02/2019 17:58

Go and get floradix or spatone tomorrow as it will take several days for you to feel the benefit. I used to be having 3 hour naps every afternoon and sleeping 12 hours at night, usually struggle to do 6 hours at night!

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 17:59

@RandomMess is this only to be prescribed by doctor?

OP posts:
WhatNow40 · 10/02/2019 18:04

I started my mat leave early as I had spd, was on crutches and work refused to allow me to park closer to the building. I was exhausted. As luck would have it, DS was born 3 days later. I'd have been at my desk when I went in to Labour otherwise!!

Just finish early and rest up before baby is here. Thanks

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 18:07

@WhatNow40 I don't know why but I feel like I would be judged for taking mat leave "early".

At first, management were expecting me not to take it until 38/39 weeks!

I know I shouldn't care what they think

OP posts:
RandomMess · 10/02/2019 18:21

Nope just go to Holland and Barrett or huge supermarket

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 18:22

@RandomMess ah thank you so much I will have a look Smile

beeyourself · 10/02/2019 18:25

You can be signed off sick until 36w without starting maternity leave . I would definitely do this in your shoes. Can you make an appt with your gp?

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 18:28

@beeyourself I could but unfortunately can not afford to live off just statutory sick pay until then Sad

jade19 · 10/02/2019 18:32

Do you have any annual leave left? There is nothing wrong with admitting you need to leave early.
If you need to go and see your GP and see if they can sign you off or put you on reduced workload.
I worked in car in my feet for 12 hours a day and had to do the same!
Take care of yourself and your baby first cxc

ATBhinchers · 10/02/2019 18:35

Don't just start taking iron. It sounds like it is iron but please get checked before you start taking them. Go to GP/phone midwife tomorrow and get it confirmed. You shouldn't just be putting up with feeling unwell in pregnancy- there could be something else wrong so it's important if you feel different to get checked out sharpish! Your baby needs you to eat as well as you. Get yourself checked tomorrow.

beeyourself · 10/02/2019 18:35

Ah ok - in that case a pp suggestion of having reduced workload is a good one, or taking annual leave. They don't sound like a great employer tbh

positivepixie · 10/02/2019 18:37

Definitely try some iron tablets - you can get them from any pharmacist, Boots or Holland & Barrett. You'll get them free from the midwife but they're not expensive. This sorted me out at around this point in my pregnancy.

RandomMess · 10/02/2019 18:39

Floradix/spatone is much better than iron tablets, doesn't make you constipated and has the stuff in so you absorb the iron.

If you start taking it Tuesday it is very highly unlikely to affect your blood results. The huge flaw in iron levels in pregnancy is that you don't actually know what your non-pregnant normal is...

bluefpg · 10/02/2019 18:41

Got some annual leave left, it's less than 20 days though.

I do feel differently in myself, I'm going to see my GP tomorrow and will explain what's going on.

At this point, I could care less what my employer says instead of getting stressed about how they will react.

Just want to make sure LO is okay Thanks
