Words you just don't get

I'm reading a book that describes a place as bucolic. I know what it means. I've read it before I just can't get my head to read it as anything other than bubonic.

Bemused...I always thought it meant "slightly amused " but it actually means "confused".

Ambivalent - I always think it means like you couldn't care about something, like 'meh'....
