And also how secure she must be to not worry about the typical ‘upstaging’ concerns I often hear about on MN?

Of wow, what a brilliant idea!! And what a lovely Bride, totally opposite of a Bridezilla.

OddBoots · 09/02/2019 15:20

I was just reading about that, the whole wedding sounds lovely. The dress thing only works because no-one else does it though, it's not something that could catch on.

Bubastes · 09/02/2019 15:22

Meh.

Just keen to go viral on social media.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 09/02/2019 15:27

I'm not sure we can all fit back in them lol

Santaclarita · 09/02/2019 16:00

That's really nice of her. Liked her dress too. Smile

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 09/02/2019 16:05

Erm...well, it was different.
Tuxedo hoodies and a mature Elsa from Frozen.
Plus chips, an arcade game and 18 cakes.
Whatever floats your boat.
Cake

strawberrypenguin · 09/02/2019 16:07

Nice idea. I couldn't do my wedding dress up now though!

CaveMum · 09/02/2019 16:33

I remember a few years ago there was an annual party you could buy tickets for where the dress code was “what you wore on your wedding day” so hundreds of women in their wedding dresses!

I think I’d need to have mine let out a fair bit for that!

RaisinRainbow · 09/02/2019 16:34

She sounds like a real fun gal!
What about all the ne'er wed singletons though, do they get to parade about in their best bridesmaids frocks?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/02/2019 16:36

I think I’d need to have mine let out a fair bit for that!

You and me both, CaveMum!

I am, quite literally, almost twice as heavy now (11st+) as I was then (6st 7lbs).

Jamonfirst · 09/02/2019 16:45

cute idea but def couldn't get into my one

labazsisgoingmad · 09/02/2019 16:45

and of course it was america again! thought most brides wouldnt want to be upstaged

MitziK · 09/02/2019 16:53

Ouch for anybody in the group who wasn't married and wasn't able to be part of the big photoshoot for the publicity shots posterity or had to beg somebody else for the loan of a dress/buy something new because the other option was 'something that had only been worn once'.

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/02/2019 17:11

Fab idea. Id love to rewear my wedding dress, only problem is idk what I’d wear on the other leg though!

Littlepond · 09/02/2019 17:13

Horrible idea! Horrible for those not married, or whose marriage wasn’t a positive experience, who don’t fit in their dress anymore, who don’t like it anymore, who have no one to borrow one from...
I wouldn’t have gone.
And it’s clearly all so the bride can pride herself in being different by wearing blue! Because she “knew” everyone else would be in white/ivory/cream. Ugh,

ketchupormayo · 09/02/2019 17:22

What a fantastic idea! She seems great!

Almostfifty · 09/02/2019 17:22

It wasn't mandatory Littlepond, you could wear something you'd only worn once, or something black and/or white.

CheddarAndCrackers · 09/02/2019 17:26

Gave mine to the charity shop years ago! It was a meringue of a dress, too. Lord above knows what I was thinking!

That also applies to the marriage, Grin

Aridane · 09/02/2019 17:29

How cringe-y

Isth · 09/02/2019 17:39

Ugh, not my cup of tea at all! I guess each to their own tho!

Crinkle77 · 09/02/2019 17:44

The article did say that single people borrowed wedding dresses from friends or family or they could wear another dress that they had only worn once.
