To think everyone's leg muscles hurt if they walk up a steep hill?

As dh says it's not normal and now I'm convinced I have vascular disease Confused

I walk a lot but if I walk up a hill near me, which has steps built into the side, my leg muscles really hurt. As soon as I stop ,they are fine. I can walk up a long gentle incline with no bother.

where is the pulse in your legs @leah91? can I take the bp in my legs with a normal bp testing thing?

I’ve been told by the podiatrist that I have very short Achilles’ tendons, which apparently makes gojng uphill more difficult for me.

depends on the hill.
I have to walk a short but steep stretch every day.
it's fine. just like walking up 4 flights of stairs or so.
however walking along the coastal path in dorset had my thighs burning.

I don't think it's necessary vascular disease. I think you'd just benefit from doing more incline walking or incline exercise to get your legs into better shape.

@Faza There's a pulse at the top of your leg (the femoral pulse), one at the back of the knee and one on top of the foot, and one inside the ankle. It's possible to measure the blood pressure in the legs but you generally need a bit more specialist equipment than a standard home BP monitor. If you want to see what a vascular check up would be like, this is a training video for medical students, it shows where they would feel the pulses and what they're looking for:

I how that makes it a bit less scary. I hope that you are completely fine but honestly I would advise a GP appointment because they can check you over properly and that's what they're there for! Best wishes
