To ask how to remove ink stains from uniform

peppotpillow · 08/02/2019 18:14

I washed my work uniform with a pen in the front pocket. I only noticed when I heard it rattling around in the tumble dryer. My uniform has big ugly black dots over it. I've tried hand sanitiser and hairspray and rewashed but that didn't work.
Any solutions that work for old ink stains?
I could ask for a new uniform but I'm fairly new and feel bad Grin

Acetone nail polish remover. Pour on the stain and gently rub. Then put straight in the wash.

White spirit?

I took a dress to the dry cleaners. They sorted it out with their chemicals. (And didn't charge me anything!)

Vanish carpet cleaner

Rubbing alcohol

Soak it in vodka and leave for ten mins then stick it in a cool wash. If you have washed it already on a warm wash there is a chance you could have set the stains in.

Nail varnish remover.

Ooh dry cleaners! I never thought of that, I won't have a day off until late next week now though Sad
Going to have a look at all these suggestions thank you

Rubbing alcohol usually works for biro ink, milk for fountain pen type ink. I've also found hand soap bars (not the glycerin type) have worked on stubborn stains that I have given up on after trying everything else. I discovered that by accident once when DS had a girlfriend who wore black eyeliner that wouldn't stay on her face but once it transferred on to everything else became immovable Hmm

Oh... and sunlight! Although that's not much help at this time of year.

Anti-bac hand gel, blotted several times with kitchen towel/clean cloth.
