AIBU to stop DD going to MILs on a school night

Wrote a long post and lost it , sorry if this is double posted.

Basically MIL puts hand cream on her hands and then brushes down DD’s clothes to get rid of her (very sheddy) dog’s hairs. This is leaving marks on DD’s uniform and they won’t wash out.

I’ve asked her to stop but she hasn’t. The marks are still there and DD tells me she still does it. There is no need for DD to be there after school.

I’m sick of the washing, specialist cleaners don’t get it out and the clothes are looking washed to death, the sweatshirt particularly looks awful.

If she still wants to pick her up just tell her to bring her straight home instead of taking her to her house.

Tell your DP to tell his mother if she doesn't stop doing as asked the visits will stop and she can pay for new uniform.

Washing up liquid is great for getting out grease marks. Just rinse well before putting in washing machine.

Try dry shampoo on the grease stains, it absorbs the oil before you wash.

MIL doesn’t drive so can’t bring her home easily. School just happens to be near her house or it wouldn’t be a thing!

Just tell her outright - you will not have DD any longer as you have ruined her uniform. I have asked you repeatedly to stop ruining it but you don't listen so no more after school visits.

tell her to use sellotape to remove dog hairs much more efficient and wont damage clothes just wind it round your hand and dab at the hairs

The hand cream is Vaseline Intensive Care. We were at MIL’s today and I made a point of liking.

And I realised that she doesn’t do this if we’re there when we go at a weekend and DD doesn’t even get that much hair on her??? Maybe the uniform attracts it more or she hoovers for the weekend!

Anyway, the cream contains Vaseline which needs alcohol to break it down apparently.

Have tried diluted running alcohol (whatever that is and colour tested first) that we had in the shed. Sponged clothes and they’re in the wash now.

Looking , not liking.

I presume anyway 😁

In my experience the lint rollers aren’t very good with longer hairs, it’s too much of a faff.

What’s wrong with an old fashioned clothes brush or one of those “magic ones” forgotten what they are called, that they used to advertise on the tv...
