Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had a mummy makeover (breast lift and implants, Brazilian tummy tuck. If so did anyone go abroad for any procedures or recommend any particular surgeon.
Thanks

What will you do if things go wrong? Do you have enough funds for private follow up care in the UK?

Confusedbeetle · 08/02/2019 12:36

You would have to be mad

speakout · 08/02/2019 12:43

Stupid idea.

RoboticSealpup · 08/02/2019 12:43

I saw a woman in the news who went to Poland for a cheap boob job for her wedding. The surgeon was a charlatan and she ended up with severe brain damage.

ghostyslovesheets · 08/02/2019 12:47

yeah go for it - the NHS will sort out the resulting shit storm

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 08/02/2019 12:52

Wtf is a mummy makeover?

GummyGoddess · 08/02/2019 12:54

I have not had those procedures. However I do have a jaw implant as I was one of those people 'blessed' with a Simpson's type chin (IE none). I saw a surgeon at his clinic in Harley Street and had the procedure done in Belgium.

It went really well and I'm very happy, so surgery abroad does not always mean disaster. I have zero regrets, having no jaw line was totally horrible and it bothered me from the age of around 10.

MrsScamander · 08/02/2019 13:06

Please don't, its not worth the risk. A relative of mine recently had facial surgery in a foreign country, had an allergic reaction to something they use and months later is still suffering with pain and redness. The only thing she can do is send pictures to her doctor abroad and trust their diagnosis and prescription of antibiotics because she refuses to see a GP in the UK 😑

lottielottielottie · 08/02/2019 13:13

Not a mummy. Had breast implants. I wouldn't have had this done abroad even if it had been given to me for free!

Knowing the clinic I used was local was a great piece of mind had anything gone wrong, all went well : )

What’s a brazilian tummy tuck? My mind is boggling with visions of trying to tuck pubes into rolls of stomach flab Confused

As for “mummy makeover” Envy not envy.

I’ll just leave this here and remind you that there are serious risks associated with any surgery. Death being one of them.

Do not go abroad. People have died from "bargain" cosmetic surgery abroad.

Absolutely baffles me why people would take the risk and potentially leave their children without a parent just to get cheap surgery.

If you can't afford to pay the prices for the best quality surgeons in the UK then don't get it done.

Baffles me why people would risk cosmetic surgery full stop. Even expensive surgery there is still a risk.

Bellasorellaa · 08/02/2019 13:36

i had my body done for 4k abroad and im happy

Bellasorellaa · 08/02/2019 13:40

op youre going to have to do the research yourself im not replying again go on real self

Jencottage · 08/02/2019 13:48

I had my boobs done in Brussels - they are perfect ! Hubby had his eyes done there. Don't know if I'd be brave enough to go to Eastern Europe or turkey though

EmeraldShamrock · 08/02/2019 13:52

Jencottage How expensive if you don't mind me asking. They're around 5500 euro in Ireland. Would you save much going to Brussels with flights and accommodation costs too?

DorothyZbornak · 08/02/2019 13:54

A 'mummy makeover'. Seriously? Hmm

PortiaCastis · 08/02/2019 13:58

Yes but if it goes wrong will you expect the NHS to sort it out if yes then no

Jencottage · 08/02/2019 14:04

I had them done under the muscle and as tear drop form (can't remember the cc volume). I think they were around EUR 4800 ? I also had lipo done which was about EUR 2200 (I think). It was back in 2013. The clinic was fab but I booked a hotel to stay in after the operation.

Piffle11 · 08/02/2019 14:10

I presume you're thinking of going abroad to save money? As really said, there are risks no matter how fantastic the surgeon and the facilities … however, it always amazes me that people are willing to go for the cheap option when it comes to trusting someone to anaesthetise you, cut you open, and successfully put you back together and bring you round. Can you get insurance to cover anything going wrong? I mean, as you're putting yourself through it, I imagine any insurance would be astronomical, and therefore cancel out any saving made on going abroad. I think I'd rather save up and go to a reputable British clinic, with a proven track record.

hastingsmua1 · 08/02/2019 14:39

You need to state why you’re planning to go “abroad”?

If it’s because it’s cheaper, don’t bloody risk it. You get what you pay for and there’s no guarantee that you’ll get the best care if anything goes wrong; whether that’s a botched result or a life-and-death complication. What if you can’t manage the flight back? You don’t even have a surgeon in mind lol - you have done absolutely no research. Some consultants may be shit, may steal other’s surgery photos and pass them off as their own, may not even be qualified, have had serious issues in the past etc - you can’t base these decisions solely on price.

Respect yourself FFS. You’re going to have your body for the rest of your life so frankly it’s worth going for the best surgeon rather than the cheapest - we’re not taking about a hair cut here.

If you’re going abroad to go to a renowned specialist doctor who delivers high end results (with a high end price to match, eg in the USA) then fair enough, but it doesn’t sound like it from your post.

GummyGoddess · 08/02/2019 19:35

hastingsmua1 is right. I did because I did literally months of research and the surgeon who had the best reviews operated in both London and Belgium. I picked him because I liked the reviews, and I picked Belgium because it was cheaper than London and I could visit a friend at the same time.

BitchQueen90 · 08/02/2019 19:46

Bella just because you're fine doesn't mean that everyone else is. Lots of people have had issues with surgery abroad and people HAVE died. Why would you want to risk being one of the unlucky ones?
