AIBU about socks?

DD(4) is a bit unwell. DD is on her 3rd day of wearing the same pair of socks. She won't change her fucking socks. Does this matter? Really? I'm so tired of illness and being indoors and DD being defiant that I can't decide whether to back down or stand my ground.

A wise person once said to me: pick your battles.

Unless they smell, this isn't a battle that I'd be fighting. Not yet anyway.

Nah they're not too stinky. Balls to it. I'll get them off her when we have our weekly hair washing bath battle tomorrow morning.

Let her wear the socks, it's not worth getting yourself stressed over. If they really do need changing then wait until she's asleep.

If it makes you feel any better I had to go out yesterday wearing shoes that absolutely did not go with what I was wearing because DS insisted I had to wear them. I tried to wear something more appropriate but it provoked a meltdown so I went along with it to save my sanity. I got a few funny looks dropping him off at nursery but I was past caring by that point.

I hope your DD gets well soon.

I agree pick your battles but unless she sleeps in them you put them in the wash once she's in bed!

OMGithurts · 08/02/2019 11:19

She does indeed sleep in them but I'll get them washed at bath time tomorrow.

My DD is 8 and last week she put on her socks on Friday morning....and took them off Sunday morning. She slept in them. I let her. Other battles to worry about.

She's just nodded off on the sofa so is clearly more unwell than I thought (she doesn't nap). Explains the unreasonable behaviour. Another day at home... let's see if I can get DS to nap while she's still asleep.
