AIBU to use 1930s interior doors in a 1950s house?

Someone at work said she'll think it will look 'ridiculous' which I think is a little harsh.

Our 1950s semi, once renovated, will be a fantastic family home but i do feel I'm missing the quirks of our old much older house. She says I should let go of that now and embrace 'modern' style. What do others think? Shall I go for it or go for a different style instead? Any ideas great fully received since I think DH is past the point of caring 😂

I love styles from then - 50s definately echoed the 20s in an arts and crafts way.

1950s doors are generally flat and plain aren't they whereas 1930s doors are pannelled? Most people's houses are a mish mash, think of all the Victorian house with glass box kitchen extensions, or the 1930s mock Tudor house. Pick the door you want not the door Amanda from Finance says you should pick!

I don’t think anyone really going to your home will notice or comment. Go with what you want!

Our 50s doors are glass with wood outer and a lip. Nice handles too! My sisters 1920s ones are very pretty panelled wood.

Is she living in it? No? Then don't listen to a word she says. Do what you want. That's the joys of home ownership.

I know what you mean, other people's opinions shouldn't matter but at the same time want it to be right and happy with it as put so much blood sweat and tears into it!!!
