Anyone have experience with the Depo Contraceptive Injection? Advice please. TTC

Hello. (Sorry posting here for traffic!!)

Me and DH has decided to try for baby 3 so today my Depo Contraception injection has ended.
I've spoken to the nurse and she just said that it can take up to 18 months for my body to go back to normal but for most people it's about nine months.
Probably a stupid question but how will I know when my body is ready to start trying again? Would an ovulation test work here? Not sure how they work?
How long has it taken other people?
Is there any side effects I should worry about?
Basically any more information would be received gratefully!!

Well I came of my depo 4 months ago and I’ve only just got my first period yesterday and I had serious pain leading up to it and had test done at doctors as they said this wasn’t normal and due to go for pelvis scan on 9th September :)

Hi I was look for some advice I came off the depo injection on April and I just got my period back I had it now for 11 days and just wondering if anyone has had the same we are looking to fall pregnant ASAP but don’t know if this is normal to have it for 11 days after depo

I had depo for 10 years no periods, actually had it in my arm for a lot of those years ( some in another country), I came off it in the October and was pregnant in December of the same year. Was given the same advice you have received about it being potentially years - as you can see it wasn't. This was 2003.
