To think that it is everyone's right to work in an environment where they are not regularly physically assulted?
Or are there exceptions?

There are professions where it’s too be expected more often, like being a police officer (doesn’t mean it’s right, but it’s more likely to happen).
And some professions it’s defintely expected, things like the military or professional boxer.

I worked in a job where I was physically assaulted almost every day by the patients I cared for. There were things in place to try and protect staff but ultimately I knew when I signed up for the job it would happen.

I'm a care worker and it happens regularly.
At the beginning we are told that our service users have challenging behaviour so we know what we were 'signing up' for so to speak.. still not nice when it happens though. especially as we do a lot of loan working. It can get scary at times.

It doesn't really bother me now but there have been times when some of my colleagues have been pretty badly attacked, as in on the floor getting kicked and punched whilst on their own but then a big sink being kicked up because they wanted to go home after that and called in management. They were made to feel awful for weeks afterwards because they wanted to go home and that's not fair. Theres also zero after care of an incident like that happens too which I don't feel is right, we know it's part of the job but it still shakes you up when it happens. Ive known people have their teeth knocked out and all sorts. But we to accept it as it's part of our job and there's the mind set that if you don't like it then we can leave. Which is true I guess.

Yes there are exceptions, or we would have to permanently sedate people with some conditions.

Also people in stressful situations sometimes act in less than ideal ways.

That's beside the obvious occupations that carry risks.

I used to work with young people with disabilities that led to severely challenging physical behaviour. There was no way to do that job without being injured, but due to the lack of capacity of the young people, I don't believe it was assault. I think a number of care professions would fall under that category.
