Is my DH being unreasonable?

I’ve been off work for 3 days now been to doctors got a viral infection and an over 38 degree fever. Got some meds to help now.

Question I have is that dr says I shouldn’t work whilst I’m this ill but DH thinks no matter how I feel in the morning I should go back. What should I do for the best?

Started a new job last month so still in probation.

Why does he feel so strongly about you going back? I understand you're on probation but you're also fairly poorly!!

Hippopotas · 06/02/2019 21:25

I don’t know why he feels so strongly about it. I think he thinks they will let me go or something.

It’s frustrating as he keeps saying I just need to take the meds with me and make an effort.

I also work with an immune compromised person so I think I need to be really careful.

Who do you think knows best, your gp or your dh?

JamPasty · 06/02/2019 21:29

ESPECIALLY don't go in if you work with someone with a compromised immune system!!

BarbedBloom · 06/02/2019 21:44

I am immune suppressed. Please don’t go in. Listen to your doctor who is medically qualified

Hippopotas · 06/02/2019 21:46

Just spoke to him and his reasoning is if I can sit on a sofa all afternoon with my iPad and not throw up I should be fine to work.

I explained to him the difference between sitting in the sofa playing a game and commuting to work to do a 8.5 hour day where you are up and down stairs all the time isn’t quite the same.

Does he think you have form for being lazy?

Bluntness100 · 06/02/2019 21:52

Have you lost jobs before' or been unemployed for a period, is that why he is worried?

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 06/02/2019 21:54

Do you think you could physically manage it? Do you get on with your boss? Have you got a doctors note? If it was me, I'd probably call my boss and explain you have x, you have a doctors note, you know you're on probation so are worried about taking a sick day and worried about the compromised person on the team. They might be able to arrange for you to wfh or go in late / leave early for an easier commute, or give you lighter duties, or isolate you for the day. This depends on your boss being reasonable and you getting on well with thm

Hippopotas · 06/02/2019 21:55

No to losing jobs before and being unemployed. I had a period of depression about 4 years ago which he has never fully understood but I don’t think he thinks I’m lazy.

Not sure about physically managing it I could barely get to the doctors and back earlier without it wiping me out and needing to have a nap.

Office super small only a few of us and no way for me to be separated from anyone else. We also have members of the public in and out all day as well.

Can’t work from home or go in late as boss wouldn’t allow that.

I'm sure it would a different story if he was the one ill Hmm

Listen to your dr, OP. They don't tell people to stay off work unless they need the rest. Get well soon Flowers

TowelNumber42 · 06/02/2019 22:13

Do man flu impersonations when he is around. Be in bed being pathetic at him. Maybe shuffle around in the dressing gown of doom asking for a cup of tea in your special I'm ill voice. Sigh dramatically.

Troels · 06/02/2019 22:36

When he gets his medical degree and becomes a GP he can comment. Until then listen to your Doctor.

BIgBagofJelly · 06/02/2019 22:38

I'd be massively annoyed if I was the person with the compromised immune system and you came in with your virus after the GP told you not to.
