Or a description? I'm in the midst of renovating our property and need some inspiration on how to decorate my kids bedroom - for a boy and girl so looking for it to be unisex.

Hi op my dd is 8 next week and she has a camper van themed bedroom including the big bloody bed but that's another story!
It's lovely and you can get lots of stuff for the theme and it can be very neutral.

Dd has actually just asked if she can have a new bed ( I almost fell over as the last one was £££ ) and I've said not just yet!

My dad is 9. She has 3 pale pink walls 1 bright pink wall and white and bright shiny pink furniture. My son has pale blue and terracotta - he wanted orange but this went well. It's got a lovely Moroccan feel to it.

Sorry I should say my kids are 2 & 3 and that any help is greatly welcomed.

Lovely ideas! Beds! I've been looking for them too and erm yes £££! Speaking of beds... what's the best type of mattress to go for?

We got a lovely set of bunk beds from Argos. Well worth the money. Yes they were cheap and cheerful but still going strong. (They don't come apart I to 2 beds so will need to be replaced later on). - Mattress go for the most expensive you can if you want it to last (I've bought 2 mattresses recently from Amazon - really researched the reviews - they have been great). IKEA do some good beds that start as toddler size then expand as the kids grow - the mattress comes in 3 sections. There are also good second hand beds on FB market place and local selling sites.

At their young age maybe paint the room a neutral colour then let them choose wall stickers they like so they can decorate above their bed. These peel off easily for changing later on.

You will find plenty of ideas on Instagram

We have a woodland bedroom which is quite neutral. 3 white walls and 1 green wall, one of the white walls has a big wall sticker of a tree. The floor is polished floorboards with rugs over (we have one that looks like the forest floor from ikea). Most of the furniture is pine. They main nightshade is a cloud and they have a bee mobile. They have woodlandy bedding from Ikea on their bunk beds.

My two have gone for a deconstructed theme, obviously it’s a statement on the fleeting nature of order and natural state of the universe which is chaos.
Mans futile atttmpts to bring order is represented by the clear space both around and within the bin in their rooms.

Download the Houzz app, you can find loads of ideas. That’s my go to when redecorating.

DS1 and 2 have matching plain white single beds (actually a bunk bed but we have unbunked them), white walls, a white carpet (I know, thank the previous tenants), a white bookshelf in between that serves as a bedside table with a lamp and nightlight, a big white Hemnes chest of drawers, and rotating sets of colourful and gender neutral duvet and pillow sets from Ikea. Underbed storage boxes for toys and stashed clothes/shoes/uniform in the next size up.

I actually love their room, the beds are always bright and fun but everything else can either be bleached, or easily cleaned with a melamine sponge!

At that age rainbow theme is a good one and there are loads of stuff in the shops and on pinterest.

DD is 4 - We have turquoise walls with rainbow and clouds decals and bright coloured curtains. Also have the ikea spice racks painted in bright colours but the bed and side table are natural wood. HTH

I’d recommend friendship mill beds.

We are renting so wall colour in 2yo DDs room was already set, its pale pink. One one wall along her bed I put up removable cloud stickers in a grey/pink colour scheme. I made her bed out of Ikea Kallax as we desperately needed more storage, you need two of the 1x4 and two single cubes nail/screw them together, secure some slats on top and that fits a single mattress (not Ikea) perfectly, and provides 10 cubes of storage. And then I made her a cloud shaped headboard which goes along one side of the bed to stop her bumping into the wall. She also has more kallax with the wicker cubes with different multicoloured ribbons and drawers with multicoloured ceramic knobs. Clouds and rainbows is pretty unisex and easy to pick up easily changed accessories.

DS's room at that age had a dado rail so I painted it green below and blue above, sponged a few clouds around the top bit of wall and ceiling.

Then use removable wall decals and accessories to fit in with whatever they're in to.

I think I painted over the clouds when he was about 6 so it wasn't "babyish" anymore.
