Posted elsewhere but no responses so far so trying here!
I'm having a hard time with my bladder and general pelvic region. I've had two c sections and after dd2 arrived two years ago I've not felt right. Sometimes I wee fine. Sometimes, more often than not lately, my bladder contracts before I've finished, causing it to not empty properly. It's also sometimes painful when that happens and feels tender to touch. Often I find myself pushing /massaging my bladder to get all the wee out! I'm scared not to in case I get another uti. I am just finishing antibiotics for one but I had a really bad one after dd2 was born that resulted in being readmitted. It was a resistant one so i was in isolation with iv antibiotics. It was grim and I still have anxiety about uti's now. Still waiting for the results of the last sample so I'm a bit on tenterhooks atm.
I'm not certain what it causing my bladder/pelvic floor issues but I'm wondering if it's pelvic floor dysfunction or something. I also have ibs and get very bloated a lot, which puts pressure on my bladder and doesn't help. I'm also wondering if it's adhesions from having two c sections. So inevitably I've visited the gp who has been utterly useless and failed to do a urology referral when she said she would but I'm also wondering if I should see a gynae or women's specialist or something. Any help or advice appreciated as I'm going a bit out of my mind. Thanks in advance.

Why are you asking here? Make an appointment with a doctor. Go back again and ask for a referral or to a physio trained in this area. IBS is a medical matter. See another doctor

OhWhatAPalaver · 06/02/2019 11:32

confusedbeetle I'm asking here because it's not something I know much about and I'd like to hear of others experiences. I thought that's what mumsnet is for. Of course I am going back to the drs, on Monday in fact, but in the meantime I'd like some support and reassurance. Is that so hard to understand?

Gosh some people are so mean on Mumsnet, hope you get some good and reassuring advice OP x

That sounds grim, you poor thing. My bladder has a large fibroid sitting on it which causes a few issues and which was picked up on an ultrasound. I was then referred to Gynae and have had procedure to shrink the fucker but I don’t think it has worked and I want a hysterectomy now.

Be firm when you go in and say it’s at the stage where it is impacting negatively on your life now and you would like a referral and investigations.

OhWhatAPalaver · 06/02/2019 11:57

Thanks postnotinhaste, they will probably do an ultrasound when the referral finally gets done. I just want a diagnosis, it's so frustrating not knowing the cause. I will be firm with them, my drs are a bit rubbish so it's the only way these days.

It might be an idea to keep a food diary for a few weeks - I know someone who used to get a lot of UTI's if she had too much sugary food. It might be a long shot but probably wouldn't be something a doctor would think about?

Booboostwo · 06/02/2019 12:49

Of course you should push for a referral. A gynae should be able to help and i’ve found a physio who specialized in women’s health who was excellent. Birth injuries and similar gynecological/urological problems are often ignored by the medical profession, it’s really sad and unacceptable that we have to push and shout to get help.

Yogagirl123 · 06/02/2019 13:36

I suffer with frequent UTI and have bladder issues, that are common with my disability. Uti can happen if your bladder doesn’t drain fully, the only way I can describe my bladder is urgency prone, but poor flow, not a good combination!

I find d-mannose powder really helps and stops uti developing. I am seeing Urologist next month for further investigation. Good luck with seeing your GP, I hope you get the referral.

seastargirl · 06/02/2019 13:44

A random one, but blackcurrant, oranges and caffeine all stimulate your bladder. My daughter has pvd and cannot have these as they cause her all sorts of issues. So try steering clear of these.

OhWhatAPalaver · 06/02/2019 14:41

yogagirl123 I tried d mannose with this one but it didn't work for some reason. 24 hours in and I had pink wee (eek!) so I started antibiotics that I thankfully had in cupboard. D mannose has helped in the past though.
Could I ask what your disability is? Only I'm being investigated for all sorts atm and had all sorts of speculation on what is causing my (many) issues.
seastargirl I didn't know that, thanks!

Definitely push for a referral - am sure a gynae/ urologist will be able to help. Agree with PP to say it’s impacting negatively on you/ your life and you need it to be checked out further. Good luck

Yogagirl123 · 06/02/2019 15:22

I have found the D- Mannose powder better than the tablets so far. I have Multiple Sclerosis. But please don’t panic, anyone can have UTI for a number of reasons, bladder and bowel issues are common in MS patients, but there are lots of other symptoms too. Just get referred and take it from there. I hope you are feeling much better soon.

OhWhatAPalaver · 06/02/2019 15:56

Thanks, MS is one the things that has been suggested. I'm waiting on mri scans and a neurology appointment as well. I'm trying not to think about it too much but it is difficult. And the bladder issues on top of that as well. Here's hoping for a positive outcome and good luck with your urology appointment. X

Urogynaecology referral is better than a straight urology one as it'll look at everything going on down there and the interactions.

OhWhatAPalaver · 06/02/2019 20:09

Thanks Mere, I'll ask for that.
