I ordered 2 parcels from ASOS.
Both parcels of items around £300 total.
Unfortunately none of the items are suitable and checked inside the parcels and they've forgot to include a returns note in both.
They tell me I need to print a new one out but I have no printer and nobody I know has a printer.
They tell me to go to the library and print them (I live in a small village and it's around a 40 min drive)
I ask can they post one out and they refuse.
I say if I pay postage for the parcels can I write a returns note out and say which items I'm returning and why ..they say no I will have to print it.
Aibu to think this is shit?

That is indeed shit. I don't know many people with a printer at home these days.

I'd have thought most people with a computer would have a printer!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 05/02/2019 21:13

I'd have thought most people with a computer would have a printer!

I think I maybe know 3 people with printers and they never have any ink or paper!

We have a printer. And ink. And paper. Grin

Is this not the thing to do? Blush

@Magenta46 in principle I absolutely agree. However there is absolutely nowhere in this small market town that sells nice standard women's knickers, as opposed to £50 for a scrap of decorated lace (the very upmarket swimwear and lingerie boutique) or £10 for three Large Briefs (the market stall on Wednesdays and Saturdays)

TulipsInbloom1 · 05/02/2019 21:24

Hardly anyone I know has a computer. Tablets and smart phones, the odd one with a laptop.

The customer service at Asos is SO BAD. SO SO BAD. I've just emerged from a two month tussle over items I ordered, never received, a wrong replacement item sent out, my return getting lost. The people you chat to / email just copy and paste from a script. It's infuriating and they don't budge. Good luck :)

A lot of places now just give you a QR code that you take to the post office and they print the label for you. I have a printer and paper and ink - I do the instant ink thing for a couple of quid a month.

LostInShoebiz · 05/02/2019 21:58

Shop local. This is what happens when you shop online.

Tone deaf much? If she’s ages from anywhere she’s not got much local choice does she?

LostInShoebiz · 05/02/2019 21:59

Is “shop local” the equivalent of just book a spa day and leave the baby with DH/DM/MIL?

mineofuselessinformation · 05/02/2019 22:06

Can they send you a QR code that you can take to your local post office to be scanned?
I did this recently with an item I needed to return.

Llongyfarchiadau · 05/02/2019 22:46

Online retailers tend do this to make it that bit harder for customers to return stock when they are struggling. I first noticed it with House of Fraser about six months before they went into administration.

Is ASOS financially sound?

Raffleeight · 05/02/2019 22:51

Tell them that you trust they will be adding the cost of your transport cost to your refund/compensate you in some way as it was an error on their part and you should not be out of pocket because of it. If they say no ask for them to advise you of their official complaints procedure as you think this is unacceptable and would like to escalate it.

When I ask to officially complain most places back down and offer some sort of solution.

GemmeFatale · 05/02/2019 23:37

I’m pregnant and would love to shop local to try things on. Unfortunately all the shops send you to order online for maternity. The stores aren’t exactly falling over themselves to encourage us to shop in store

pippytre · 06/02/2019 08:45

I'm sure they do it so we don't bother returning.
I can't remember which retailer it is but they've stopped putting returns slips in the parcel so you have to print it yourself.
Ridiculous

Amazon have nailed this.

They send you a code then you take your parcel to a drop off shop. That’s it. No faffing with printers

Yeah, it's great having to go 40 miles to our nearest one.
