To wonder how anyone can tell the Police they are allowed to park on a roundabout

West Midlands Police spoke to this person -

"A parent was advised why parking across an Island exit was wrong as they felt they could park there"

How can anyone think it's OK?

I live by here the school is on the island so unfortunately it's the norm it's ridiculous it's a secondary school and there is a pub opposite that lets them use the car park but they have to get their kids as close as possible it's an all girls school

I've heard loads of stories over the years on local radio about school run parking in the West Midlands (mainly Brum). Generally the police have a low threshold for idiocy, and are quite liberal with the fines. They are always at pains to point out the increased risk to children from illegal parking.

They've also had swoops and fined masses of parents for not having the right seats.

I wonder how anyone can have passed a driving test whilst thinking that that it's fine to park on a roundabout exit (and have the brass neck to argue it with the Police)?

Some parents think the normal rules just don't apply to them on the school run.
We live near enough to school to walk but far enough away that we don't get them blocking us in. The sights I walk past every day are mad. People parking on corners, on double yellows, on corners with double yellows, across driveways and on zig-zags. People stopping in the middle of the road and across junctions. Pulling out and accelerating hard when there are people crossing the road trying to navigate all the badly parked cars. etc.

Whilst not excusing it - I can sort of see how the selfish "I don't give a flip" attitude works - but arguing the point with the Police?

but arguing the point with the Police?

entitlement knows no bounds.

I have seen a parent in a car arguing with the Police, the parent had parked across a drive! The parent seemed to think there was no where else to park and Police pointed out that it was a very long road (true, but that would take you further away from the school gates which seemed to be the sticking point). The parent made a complete prat of themselves even though they were clearly in the wrong.

Similarly, I have seen a parent block a drive and wander back to the car - when the house owner tackled the parent instead of apologising they said 'it is my car and let me tell you why I did that'. She was a well-known prat though!

In the second photo, the car looks dumped to me. It’s not even close to being called “parked”, it’s in the middle of the road 😂

It's usually because they will "only be a minute"

Which
(a) is never just a minute
(b) they are one of a hundred 'just a minuters'
(c) doesn' t make them any less thick for doing so

I went to that school (many years ago). It's a senior school and all the children are over 11 - and also from the point in the picture to the actual school is a really really long drive.

There is also a pub over the road with a massive car park. It is on the number 11 bus route (for those of you who know Birmingham it's a bus that goes around the entire outer route of the city) and extremely accessible by public transport.

I can't think of any reason at all why she had to park right there?

Although things may have changed since I went there there were never loads of cars - do people really pick up senior school children now?

Two different cars in the photos?
