To ask for quick dairy free help for ds?

I posted the other day as my 5 year old ds has been having blood and mucus in his stools, he's now had loose stools for going on a week. I had his doctors appointment this morning and after a good examination he said his first port of call is to try dairy free for two weeks.
For background my ds has had over a year of stomach problems. He is on omeprazole for acid reflux as he was randomly vomiting, but has virtually always had either constipation or loose stools. He was bf until almost 3. Recently he's been on the toilet up to 10 times a day and it's usually very mucussy.
School have said they can facilitate a dairy free lunch although I'm nervous about this as I know its not as simple as no milk or cheese!
Can anyone give me some easily available foods that are dairy free please?

Yes, IBD is known to be caused by a combination of genetics and an abnormal immune response, but sometimes you may not know the full family history of say great grandparents - my point is important not to disregard on KNOWN family history. Stool specimens for infection and inflammation are non-invasive and will easily help to rule certain things out.
Passing blood several times a day is a worry. A small child may become anaemia quicker than an adult. Don’t be fobbed off if it continues over the next week. Hope you get some answers soon.

I became anaemic before I went vegan, it was not pleasant.

There's loads of dairy free ready made foods now - pure spread is good, found lovely chocolate pots at Christmas (Morrison's) in the free from fridge section and cheese is ok now. Pizza Hut does vegan cheese. School will be fine, they are used to it. My brother is vegan so I'm used to it, he prefers the oat milk but you can buy strawberry soy milkshake now!

I’m dairy free I have similar issues to your son but have been diagnosed with IBS. Basically just make sure you cook from scratch. Amelia Freer, Lizzie Loves Healthy and Madeline Shaw do lots of family friendly dairy free recipes.

Yes avoid soya and anything with Soya Leitchen in - unfortunately this is in a lot of processed food.

Oatley is the best Dairy Free Milk and they do a chocolate flavoured one which is divine and a custard now as well. Provmeal Oat milk is ok as well if you can’t get Oatly as it can be like rocking horse poo sometimes!! All supermarkets have a good Free From aisle now.

And triple check bread ingredients as lots of bread has dairy and or soya in.

And yes just a case of reading the ingredients unfortunately.

Also Ocado are streets ahead of any other supermarket for their free from and vegan offering.

I have decided that I will eliminate only dairy to begin with, if no improvement at all after the first week I will exclude soya too. In fact if he's absolutely no better by early next week I will be going back to the doctors anyway. But I am so happy I put this thread up, I have just had a delivery of some dairy free options for ds and I have to say Oatly is amazing! It tastes like the milk that's left at the end of the cereal bowl which is my favourite bit haha, ds will definitely drink it, my bf dd toddler has had some and says yummy too! I think I might replace our milk with this whatever happens. I am confident that I can give him his normal meals using these easy substitutes. Does anyone know if the Cadbury drinking chocolate is OK? It says may contain but doesn't actually list milk which I find hard to believe! We do love a hot chocolate when coming in from the cold.

We are happy to buy food that says 'may contain, I think it's used for food made in places where they also make food with these ingredients. I think of these foods as like anything cooked in my kitchen.

If you like hot chocolate, look at Nesquik too- a fair amount of sugar, but it’s fortified with iron, zinc, vitamins etc
