That this is a bloody stupid time of night to be doing this work?

There's been a power outage in our street that started Wednesday night. Generator in ndns garden since. They were told it would be sorted and work done by this afternoon. We went out at 4.30 and returned at six to find road blocked, digger in place, floodlights. They have just started digging up the footpath with a jackhammer-at 9.45. I realise they will be running to schedule, try to minimise traffic delay (it's a busyish road in the day, but not vital to the town iyswim) My dog is going bonkers, I'm up for work at 6 and my windows are rattling! Dh has just looked up regs about it, work should finish by 11 and should not happen at all in a Sunday. If it's been like this three days, they could wait till tomorrow?

Sorry I know it annoying but yab a bit u but only because it's for a lack of power.

It's classed as an emergency which yes after 3 days feels like it can wait another few hours but actually each hour without power for the elderly or disabled or those with very young children is potentially dangerous as they have no heating or hot water etc.

I really sympathise but I'd say it's an emergency situation and so I'd just let it go.

There was power, supplied by the big fuck of generator under my bedroom window all week. No, the council refused to allow a road closure. never mind, they stopped at two.

That sounds quite frankly like hell! The generators themselves are so loud. The ndn has one a few months ago and it literally made the floor vibrate in the front of the house. Add flood lights and jack hammers and I don’t think any reasonable person would have coped at that hour on a Sunday night.
A vat of coffee for you to get you through work and hopefully a peaceful nights sleep tonight Flowers

What time did the noise stop

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/02/2019 21:36

About three. They had three days to do it. A half day road closure would have been preferable. And the state they left the footpath! It's a trip hazard!
