To feel that gender/sex is not the main issue when it comes to equality but their background (schooling/family connections etc)

I say this as a middle class uni educated woman who feels that actually having women at the top doesn’t guarantee equality and we need more people of all backgrounds making decisions for all of us...

Well yes to a point

We are half the population though

And of course women come in a variety of backgrouns ethnicities etc, same as men.

So 50/50 with more represetation across the board would be good

It's not women OR working class people etc

The reason the women who have succeeded are middle class is becasue they are the only ones who stand a chance in a restricted amount of "space".

Men are also in my industry middle class as well > why not leave the women be and disrupt the look of the male dominant "types".

It isn't one or the other, as in 'we can have either the woman or the bloke from a council estate, but not both'.

Its about recognising the overwhelming advantage white, privileged men have and trying to balance it out.
Its about eliminating discrimination and improving access for all.

The UK has a very long way to go and social mobility is getting worse, not better.

YANBU. Less so connections but definitely educational and the general attitude towards education of the parents. It doesn't take much confidence or initiative to have professional career aspirations if everyone around you is in a professional career. (I say that as a middle class person from an educated family background).

Class is the main economic determinator, there are black middle class people, but they will still be subject to racism, all women subjected to oppression in and out of the home, disability also has an impact.
