To think it must be possible to rescue a saggy stomach after 3 dc?

Is it possible? I have had 3 dc all vaginal deliveries but I have been left with wrinkled skin and a bit of a pouch. My stomach used to be very toned and I can accept the stretch marks but I have really lost confidence with this loose skin. I don't have the money for surgery. Is there a way to significantly help my stomach to look tighter again? I feel like I'm hiding it away from my dh all the time as I find it really embarrassing. He's seen and says it's fine he'd never be horrible about it but I really hate it. I want to make it better!

It's possible. Some of it is genetics but you need to do Pilates every night. Look up Pilates for diastasis recti.
Swim.
Eat well.
Good luck.

Think this depends on how old you were when you had the dc. I have 3 kids and have crazy stretchmarks but my stomach isn't saggy and I mainly put that down to being quite young when I had them.

whatsthepointthen · 03/02/2019 12:44

disagree with seline. I had all my children in my 20s and my stomach is a saggy mess.

3in4years · 03/02/2019 12:49

And I had my 3 in my 30s and my tummy is flat.

Notthecarwashagain · 03/02/2019 12:49

I had my DD at 17 and my poor stomach is so floppy and ruined. 20 years of hiding it!
It's even worse when I lose weight.

My mum's stomach is smooth, in fact even my 87 year old grandma's is.
I think some people just get unlucky!

Good luck- will be watching with hope!

Fair enough, I always assumed it was my age that had stopped it. I guess I got lucky. I do have hideous scars from cesareans so there's that

Xmastummyhasgonebig · 03/02/2019 12:52

I think surgery is the only option, I have been looking into it Sad

Limensoda · 03/02/2019 13:09

You can't get a tummy like yours back to how it was without surgery I'm afraid.
I asked my doctor when my second child was 5 and I knew I wouldn't be having any more. He told me I could tone up but the wrinkly saggy skin couldn't be corrected by exercise etc. I asked about surgery but he said it couldn't be done on the nhs.
My tummy looks better if I put a few pounds on and worse if I lose weight.

Doggydoggydoggy · 03/02/2019 13:15

Sadly, I think you’ll just have to live with/accept it.

Mine is hideous aswell, it’s not noticeable now because I’ve put on so much weight everywhere else!
Which I’m in the process of losing but I know that when I get down to a healthy weight I will unfortunately be sporting a hopefully flat but horribly crinkled belly.

Gobbolino7825 · 03/02/2019 13:27

I have this problem too! I have looked into non-surgical skin tightening but I have no idea if it actually works!

extrastrongnosugar · 03/02/2019 17:31

Same situation here for me pelvic floor rehab made a huge difference (im on second month) water gymnastics specifically for waist and hip area, and cold showers for skin elasticity. 6 months pp and i think ill probably be fine in another 6

JC4PMPLZ · 03/02/2019 17:34

Had my dc in my 40s, saggy tummy has gradually gone with slow dieting. I think it is genetic.

bobstersmum · 03/02/2019 18:19

Well after my first two my stomach was fine. Then when pg with dd my bump was huge, she split my stomach muscles and that's where the saggy bit came from. I had all three in 4 years so suppose my stomach/skin has had a lot to deal with!

I don't have saggy skin after 3 DC. Do you only get it after you've lost the baby weight? Is it more likely if you've got lots of stretch marks? I wonder as I still have about 3 st to lose

AmIIntrouble · 03/02/2019 18:55

My tummy still look fine until the 3rd birth, not sure whether it is due to my age? 1st two were early 30s, 3rd was late 30s.

Jupiter15 · 03/02/2019 18:57

It’s possible you have diastisis recti (a gap in the tummy muscles). If you do specific exercises to improve this it’s possible things will get better. Have a look for a Women’s Heath physio in your area that does mummy MOT.

Waveysnail · 03/02/2019 19:06

I was fine after first two children but third was so big it stretched the skin at bottom so not going back.for me unless surgery. I believe it's genetics and skin elasticity

rainflowerstar · 03/02/2019 19:11

After my third my stomach was kind of flat but I've put on a little weight since then and I can definitely see a more noticeable over hang.
