Worst constipation ever with 'morning' sickness

Hello.
This is my first time pregnant. I'm 32 and 7 weeks pregnant. Up untill last week I thought I'd got away with not feeling sick.
I've always suffered constipation but oh my god , never as bad as this.
Last week I was managing it with fruit and all bran but this week I feel so ill I can't eat. The sickness lasts untill 3pm ish then I'm trying to have a small fibre rich snack or dinner but again that is making me feel sick.
Dr has given me lactulose but that's not helped it just makes me feel sick.
I am drinking plenty but the mornings are hard as this tends to come back up.
Any advice please for a first timer. Honestly at this precise moment I'm feeling really really rubbish.
Thanks

@Cornettoninja wow I've goggled it. Who would have guessed I've been pooing wrong all my life 😂.
I love movicol. I'll speak to a professional about it.
@mistermagpie never been a fan of dates but right now I'll try anything. Looks like the OH is off shopping today 🤣.
@roundthehorn I love pear juice. Not seen it really tho.
Again thank you all.
Glad I asked ❤

Eating pears can help. In my opinion they are nicer than prunes. Also I think fiber gel is ok when pregnant I had it when I was but that was several years ago.

Glycerine suppositories are wonderful. I wish I'd known about them when I was pregnant. Sometimes you need to unlock the door before you can open it, IYKWIM.

I had cyclizine with no ill effects throughout both my pregnancies as well as two other anti-emetic drugs for severe hyperemesis. You should never take medicine that is not prescribed for you though.

I hope you feel better soon Thanks

Chia seeds. Couple of teaspoons in a yoghurt.
I've been through this. You will get horrendous piles if you don't manage it. Keep taking medication as well.
Drink plenty of water.
Read up about soluble and insoluble fibre. See what you aren't eating or eating too much of.
Avoid refined carbs- white bread, white rice, pasta unless wholemeal. Rice krispies were awful for me.

If you can't go and need to go, use a suppository instead of straining

Suppositories

Baked potato can steady the sickness, I've heard.

Lactulose is fine in pregnancy and works really well. Ask your pharmacist for it

Enidthecat · 03/02/2019 09:53

Sorry I missed the bit where you say it makes you sick :(. Sympathies. Constipation in pregnancy is awful

Narlat · 03/02/2019 09:59

Morning all. I thought I had it cracked yesterday. Prunes. Dates loads of water and lactulose. And then supository. But alas no.
I've also got inulin at home gonna try a bit of that.
I don't want piles. I had them horrendously when I was in Italy. Never again.
If no luck today I'm gonna try 🤞 to see GP.
Thanks everyone

Psyllium husk in capsule form are easy to swallow and didn't make me feel sick.

Ground flax/linseed is a good gentle lubricant. Just mix with warm water until it starts thickening then drink. Chia seeds are similar. Both of them are pretty bland so no issues.

All of the above can be taken at night and will work gently on your system. Have a cup of hot water when you wake up and you should be good to go 😉.

I'd definitely recommend something to raise your feet to - it can make a tremendous difference.

Hopefully something helps. Until I got myself sorted out I was straining to pass what looked like sheep pellets when I was pregnant.

A Conference pear a day works wonders for me now.
