To not want to eat food that’s been in the bin

DH bought me some of those new Jaffa cake bites yesterday (not bad, not amazing either), but as I’m getting over the flu I didn’t fancy more than one so folded over the top and left it on the side.

I went to get them earlier, and couldn’t find them, after asking them where they may be and him saying he didn’t know I gave up and sat down.

When he got up next he had a look and returned with a bowl full of the chocolates. It turns out he’d gone into the kitchen at some point and mistakenly binned them (I’m not sure how as it’s pretty much full) and when he went to put something else in he found the packet and just decanted them for me.

I’ve declined to eat them as they’ve been in the bin, and I’m not 100% anyway, but he thinks I’m being daft and has left the bowl next to me.

So what do you think, am I a binned food snob?

id have eaten them if they were still in the packet

Pocketfull · 01/02/2019 23:21

@copper

Even if the packet had a hole in it first?

I wouldn’t eat them! The thought would put me off, yuck.

Hugglessnuggles · 01/02/2019 23:24

It depends, if I was s clean bin bag, and maybe only wrappers in there yes. Old food, packets off meat etc, no way!

Grobagsforever · 01/02/2019 23:25

You're being a princess, they were in a packet, do you think magic bin forces jump through packets? Even if they did, Ebola does not live in your bin.

Eat the lovely germs, you'll get ill less.

Pocketfull · 01/02/2019 23:30

The bin was changed yesterday morning so other food was in there. Toddlers scraps and leftover bibimbap.

I’m aware Ebola doesn’t live in my bin. Grin The packet was folded not seal.

If they were in a bag so hadn't come into contact with anything in the bin, then even if the bag wasn't sealed I'd have eaten them.

Although DH shouldn't have told you where he found them

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/02/2019 23:33

I got some free from morrisons they are horrible, and I love Jaffa cakes.

Pocketfull · 01/02/2019 23:39

@bestseller That’s what I said, ‘Why did you tell me?!’ I would have preferred the blissful ignorance and chocolate.

@mydc To be fair I’ve only had one, but it was quite a juicy one! I love Jaffa cakes.

I'd still eat them.

starzig · 01/02/2019 23:52

What was so bad in the bin? Did someone poo in It? My bin is usually just packets and food bits.

CalmdownJanet · 02/02/2019 00:09

I wouldn't eat anything that "wasn't bad, wasn't amazing" from the bin!! I mean if it was bite sized whispas or munchies I'd probably cave if he left the bowl beside me long enough but nope not jaffa cakes

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 02/02/2019 00:56

completely misses the point of the thread I've never heard of bibimbap before, googled it and it looks amazing!

I'd personally have eaten them because they were in the packet however I completely understand not wanting to eat them.

Pocketfull · 02/02/2019 11:29

Nope, no poo that I’m aware of @Star Grin

@WhenI - it really is wonderful, however it means we have to use about 4 prep bowls and every pan we own to make it. Envy (not envy)
