To think 'snow days' are pathetic

I understand if you live very rurally and genuinely can't get out. But snow in cities is rarely that bad. NHS staff don't take days off for a bit of snow. Last time we had severe snow. Not one person on my entire unit missed work. Even though schools were closed.

The thought of walking for an hour each way in the snow with my daughter gives me the fear. One day a week we walk 45 minutes each way to her gymnastics group, which is 45 minutes in itself, and the walk back is always a bit more difficult when she starts to tire. The idea of doing that in snow is just naw.

I just try to enjoy our occasional big snowfall. Resources should always be focused on essential services.
