I know it’s a few weeks away yet, but im away with work for 3 weeks in a few days so trying to organise.

Dd recently went to a fancy dress party and she went as Cleopatra. It was a last min rush job and I ended up ordering quite an expensive costume online. She’s only worn it once to the party. I don’t really want to spend more money on a different wbd costume when she has a perfectly good costume at home.

I know Cleoptra’s not a book character but wibu to send her in as her anyway?

My motto is 'use / adapt what you have' when it comes to World Book Day & other dressing up occasions.

Cleopatra sounds great. You already have a great costume. Go with it.

Does your school expect the children to bring a matching book? If not don't worry about that bit (ours doesn't)

World book day was always a PITA. Personally I wouldn’t but I am sure many would.

I used to get DS to go as a character in a book he had actually read and enjoyed he once went as Mr Gum, Tin Tin etc and DD went as Pippy Longstocking a couple of years running. We cobbled together a costume from what we had.

But the usual suspects always went in a football kit, a bought where’s wally, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz costume or similar etc.
