To use fresh pasta that was accidentally put in the cupboard?

DD unpacked the shopping for me on Sunday. I went to look for the fresh egg pasta just now and found it in the larder. It's stored in the fridge at the shop, and it says to keep refrigerated on it. But its only ingredients are egg and semolina. It doesn't look mouldy. I can't think of a sane reason not to feed it to the 3 of us. Can you?

I’m normally pretty lax at eating stuff but I’d worry about the egg in it.

Bin for me.

MashedSpud · 31/01/2019 19:05

I wouldn't risk it personally. Google that student who died eating left out pasta.

Frosty66611 · 31/01/2019 19:05

I’ve done this before and had food poisoning. Don’t risk it

NumbersLetters · 31/01/2019 19:06

But eggs don't have to be kept in the fridge do they?

I think the worst thing that could happen to it is it would dry out into normal, unfresh pasta so would take a bit longer to cook.

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2019 19:06

No, but they’re inside shells.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 31/01/2019 19:06

They do once they are not in the shell

NumbersLetters · 31/01/2019 19:07

Ahh Frosty that's compelling evidence that I should chuck it. Thank you.

You wouldn’t leave a raw egg out of its shell of the fridge.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 31/01/2019 19:07

win dry pasta contains no egg. I really would not eat it OP, very very firm no

Princessmushroom · 31/01/2019 19:08

I have a very strong stomach. Best before dates mean nothing to me. But fresh pasta goes straight through me if it isn’t over cooked. No way I would go near it unless I wanted to be on the toilet all night

KipperTheFrog · 31/01/2019 19:08

Eggs in a shell don't need to be in the fridge, but once they're out the shell they do. I wouldn' eat it.

NumbersLetters · 31/01/2019 19:08

Thanks all. It's going in the bin.

Unless your pasta has eggs in that are still in their shells that’s not really relevant...

If you would crack an egg in a bowl, put it in a cupboard and eat it four days later, go ahead with the pasta. You’re asking for food poisoning though.

No, but you normally keep them out of the fridge but still in their shells :)

Personally I'd probably eat it as long as it looked OK.

Shock you’re not actually serious are you?

If you are, I really hope you’re never in charge of cooking! 🙈

NumbersLetters · 31/01/2019 19:12

I really hasn't thought through my egg statement, had I Blush

The student who died after eating pasta - that had already been cooked and was left out at room temperature for five days - was such a rare case (10 years ago) that they wrote a medical paper about it.

NumbersLetters · 31/01/2019 19:24

I've got these bad boys on the go instead. Aldi, never bought them before. 2p coin for scale.

Don't do it, just bin it. Yesterday I ate some quiche that I'd made and accidentally left out overnight. What's the worst that can happen? I thought.....a day of vomiting that's what. Please don't risk this torture 🤢

SuperMam123 · 31/01/2019 19:54

Sorry just seen that you're using something else lol good choice!
