Oh god. Have I become a sugar snob?

Let me start by saying I have a savoury tooth. Id grab a bag of crisps over a chocolate bar any day. But I was in my local shop and there was a promo on white snickers and I thought what the hell. Bit into the corner and my mouth was flooded with this ott sweetness that just made me go bleeuuugh!

It was too much. I drink fruit juice, original coke etc so I didn't expect that reaction, but now I'm thirsty and feeling a bit sick, from half a bite of this monstrosity! Is it me and somehow I've dropped my tolerance to sugar?! And yes, I did check the ingredients and sugar is the first ingredient.

Each to their own I usually say. But this snickers was such an assault to my tastebuds I'm starting to wonder it must be my problem!

White chocolate is revolting that mixed with nuts and toffee bleurgh try and put it down to chocolate trauma Grin

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 31/01/2019 09:22

Nothing wrong with being a sugar snob Sugar doesn't do you any good anyway, there's no reason whatsoever why you should consume it.

Personally I find the sugar/fat/salt combo found it most junk food absolutely repulsive.

pepperknit · 31/01/2019 09:32

no, it's just that the white chocolate snickers is horrid and wrong

Sparklfairy · 31/01/2019 09:33

Damn right it is Grin

I dunno. I just hate those people who watch what you eat and go 'ugh no I can't eat that it's just toooo sweet for me' in a real martyr like way. Fine. Eat your salad and I'll eat my stuff!

Dds boyfriend bought her a unicorn birthday cake she brought what was left home i thought my teeth was going to fall out my head it was so sweet it was horrible.

thatsmyspace · 31/01/2019 09:38

Creme eggs do that to me, feel like my teeth are going to fall out 😱 I'm more of a savoury person too. Give me crisps over chocolate any day!

Gina2012 · 31/01/2019 09:39

It is true , though, that your taste buds can become acclimatised

Every so often I do a no sugar, no carb for a few weeks

When I come off this eating plan and have coffee with sugar, or whatever, it is arrrghhhnhh for my newly clean taste buds

MrsJayy · 31/01/2019 09:40

Yes I prefer a crisp ,

RupaulsGagRace · 31/01/2019 09:41

White chocolate is shit.
That sounds absolutely fucking horrible.
You need to re-salt the mouth with some salt and vinegar crisps.Grin

Butchyrestingface · 31/01/2019 09:44

Yes I prefer a crisp

I prefer lots of crisps. Grin

RupaulsGagRace · 31/01/2019 09:44

Though i agree about the martyr comment. Im a savoury tooth but My DH who is a sweet tooth will dish out 'oh that's too sweet for me, dont know how you can eat it' when i have odd sweet thing, and i find myself daydreaming of throwing my shoe at his head.

Boredisboring · 31/01/2019 09:53

Oh come on, white chocolate has its place. Do you remember the Choo bars brought out one Christmas. Like a white chocolate Finger of Fudge. Loved those, but I can't find them anymore. The white chocolate Flake was vile though.

Betty777 · 31/01/2019 09:57

was this this morning? Its still early, and I find chocolate tastes unusually sweet if you eat it before lunch.

white snickers though?? geez, weird choice!

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/01/2019 09:58

A white snickers sounds horrid!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 31/01/2019 10:00

I love white chocolate - particularly Lindt. Milk and plain gives me a headache so I normally stick to white. Also loved the Snowflake bar - wish it would come back. But I am quite happy to go days/weeks/months without chocolate - I don't ever hanker after it!

SilverySurfer · 31/01/2019 10:01

I hate white chocolate but wouldn't eat the Snickers anyway because it has palm oil in it - bleurgh.

Drreed · 31/01/2019 10:04

White chocolate Snickers sounds fucking vile

HaggisMcPhaggis · 31/01/2019 10:05

Why did you even buy it?

Juells · 31/01/2019 10:14

because it has palm oil in it

Have you noticed how difficult it is to buy anything processed that doesn't contain palm oil? Have a look at the ingredients of anything processed in your fridge or cupboard. Instant soups :( Tesco's chocolate eclairs :( Bisto gravy granules :( Just about anything that you might grab as a store cupboard item or treat has palm oil.

Sparklfairy · 31/01/2019 10:15

HaggisMcPhaggis I was feeling adventurous! never again

There's a WHITE choc snickers???? Sounds hideous.
I'm savouries girl mostly. But a Wispa or Cadbury's Caramel would be my choc of choice or posh choc like Lindt (red foil). I got bought two boxes for Christmas and I'm still savouring them and eeking them out to last as long as possible.

I'm also a fan of Bournville and decent dark choc. I'd still rather have crisps/salted cashews/peanuts though.

Junkmail · 31/01/2019 10:17

I gave up sugar six months ago and I think I have ruined it for myself. I occasionally break and have a small sugary treat but I immediately regret it as it just leaves a rank taste in my mouth—like this weird almost stinging taste. Yuck!! White snickers though?? What the hell?? Sounds vile.

Sparklfairy · 31/01/2019 10:17

And to the rest of ya, I came here searching for solidarity and reassurance, not judgment! Grin

I don't think that white chocolate counts as actual chocolate - not certain it's ever seen a cocoa bean.
I might be wrong but I think in some countries it has to be sold as confectionery and not chocolate.

TheFaerieQueene · 31/01/2019 10:22

It goes against the faerie code to eat white snickers.
