To think it’s ridiculous taking a full family to the walk in centre

Currently sat in a walk in centre after being sent by my boss, come in and it’s is heaving, there is full on family’s of 5 or more sat taking up all of the seats, I don’t understand why you need both parents plus all of the children to tow along, it’s not a day out 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔

YADNBU but there was a thread like this about six weeks ago with people full of excuses as to why it's perfectly fine. Brace yourself!

I work in A&E and you do spot the ones who are out for a family trip. Mostly people think you'll be quick and why not take everyone? Obviously there are reasons why everyone would turn up, but mostly I think people don't realise that the less people knocking about in such places, the better.

In general yanbu. It’s not fair on the others in there or on the children who aren’t there because they are ill/injured.

Frangipane · 30/01/2019 18:54

Well I suppose if the patient was one of the adults, and the other adult had to come along to drive them, and they had no family or friends with whom they could leave the children, then that would necessitate the whole family. But if the patient is one of the children, then I am with you OP.

I had to do this once when I had to take my mum to A&E. I had to take the kids too because we were all on a day out together when she became unwell, and obviously as it was an emergency I didn't have time to make other arrangements. My husband came to the hospital and collected them hours later when he finished work.

There are a few good reasons for why whole families end up sitting there looking like they all chose to be.

I have had to take DD along when DH has been very unwell (certainly unable to drive). It would have been obvious to anyone looking which one of us was ill - he was so bad, we were offered a private waiting area...

If you don't have time to take the children home you probably should be at A and E not the walk in centre.

TSSDNCOP · 30/01/2019 19:00

You’re going to get murdered OP, even though you’re dead right.

furrybadger · 30/01/2019 19:07

I do understand emergencies happen and you need to take children so for example if someone can’t drive, but the kids are just running around in their school uniform with both parents just sat there 🙄

A walk-in centre is a bit different, I agree.

Sexnotgender · 30/01/2019 19:09

YANBU, yes of course there’s circumstances where it’s unavoidable but I totally agree with you.
