In thinking that a <shudder> bratz doll is not a suitable birthday present for a 3yo

I mean, really .

It's horrible, it gives me the heebie jeebies.

DD, of course, has taken a shine to it. I rather suspect it will have to go missing.

Yuck.

My DD was given one for her 4th, luckily the person giving it told me (she said sorry I let X - her ds - choose it, it's a bit innapropriate).

I hoiked it out of the present pile and put it in the cupboard. If you pressed it it said "Lets go BOY HUNTING"!

I donated it in a box of (new) stuff to a mum who had lost out to that Xmas savings co that went bust.

TigerFeet · 03/07/2007 12:35

I think it's the name I object to most tbh

And its evil eyes

I suppose if dd likes it then I should let her keep it.

She isn't going to grow up a slut, she is far too busy atm being a fairy doctor, healing Shrek of all his ills, dressed in a pink fairy dressing up outfit and a plastic stethoscope she was also given

Sarz, slightly off-topic, but I have to wonder why you didn't just get a doctor's outfit from the boys' section, instead of a nurse's outfit from the girls' one? Personally, I think that division sends little kids more worrying messages than Bratz dolls do.

BabiesEverywhere · 03/07/2007 12:49

LOL, So the title in Active Cons and thought that is so apt

I totally agree, I would chuck it away (after hiding it in a cupboard for a month or two)

BabiesEverywhere · 03/07/2007 12:50

Saw not So...

expatinscotland · 03/07/2007 12:50

You gave a Bratz doll to your mum, aly?

TigerFeet · 03/07/2007 12:51

Zazette - I agree

Hi BE - Do you agree then it is a horrible thing????

BabiesEverywhere · 03/07/2007 13:17

It is the worse Bratz I have seen as it is supersized and I love the way the packaging 'converts' to a bath...they both belong in the same place the bin.

Hon, If you ever want to break friends with me, give my DD a Bratz doll

Chuck it, Chuck it

TigerFeet · 03/07/2007 13:37

The bath is actually quite handy as she can use it for her "baby" but the duck with the tiara has quacked its last I think.

OP posts:
BabiesEverywhere · 03/07/2007 14:08

So that's decided, chuck the doll and duck and keep the bath

stoppinattwo · 04/07/2007 12:56

Tigerfeet If your DD has taken rather a shine to it why take it away from her........Is it really that bad??

You are forcing your own opinions into the situation, you say that it is horrible etc but there are plenty of other ugly looking dolls doing the rounds.

If your DD likes it why chuck it? that is just a waste of money. Let her play with it, if you dont like them so much then just ensure she doesnt get any more, but you cant censor everything.

My DD plays with them, she also likes to dress up and pretend she is a bratz rock star. What is the harm, it is out sordid interpretation which spoils it every time. My DD loves dressing up, she loves fashion and clothes and i would never take that away from her, she is only 5 btw and did completely lack confidence, shewas a very shy child. Now i allow her to have confidence in her choices of what she likes to play with and dress up as she is a lot less shy.

If you took the time to see any of the bratz stories thehy are actually typical child like stories with a caring moral, which i think is more important.

I know a good role model is what is important, but im sure the toys we played with as children didnt make us the people we are today, the role model is the parent, and if you go taking toys of your children because you dont like them well what kind of a message are you giving??

stoppinattwo · 04/07/2007 12:58

And as far as i know, non of the bratz characters are sluts

NKF · 04/07/2007 12:59

I find them gruseome (the feet!) and slightly kitsch but I have no worries that my daughter will end up as a prostitute because, for three months, she chewed the foot of a Bratz doll.

stoppinattwo · 04/07/2007 13:03

rofl NKF

TigerFeet · 04/07/2007 13:41

s'ok stoppin I'm not going to take it from her! She likes it, I don't. I rather suspect this won't be the first disagreement we have as she grows up

Anyway, I like the family that gave it to her and it would seem disrespectful to them somehow to take it from her.

BabiesEverywhere · 04/07/2007 13:46

Arrgghh, the doll is staying.

Please on bended knee- don't get my DD one

MrsPuddleduck · 04/07/2007 14:02

Once bought one of these for my best friend's little girl. It was a bit like a girls world and had hair to brush and make up to smear.

I sat at her birthday party and watched her open it - and she was delighted. And then all of a sudden it occured to me that I had bought my goddaughter a hooker!

I don't really have a problem with them but wished I hadn't bought it at the time.

PS have been taking her to church weekly ever since to make amends! (not) but to take role seriously.

SueBaroo · 04/07/2007 14:06

I think they're grim and wouldn't allow them, but we don't allow barbie and that sort of doll anyway, and they've never shown any interest in them anyway.

But I'm not sure I'd give a doll to a 3yo that had feet that came off - wouldn't that be a choking hazard?

TigerFeet · 04/07/2007 14:15

The feet don't come off this one - it's an outsized one like this

SueBaroo · 04/07/2007 14:16

"The "z" thing winds me up too. Here I am getting all stressed about the grammar and etymology of the things before you even get onto what they represent"

well it's the product name so the grammar is fine.
