Sorry to post here, but am hoping there’ll be some medic traffic :) Our 10yo daughter is under immunology investigation due to various infection related illnesses. Aside from these infections, she also gets really frequent and often severe utis. Since she was around 18mths she’s had increasing frequency, sometimes every month. Now averaging 6 to 8 per year. So far these have grown a variety of organisms, Proteus, Klebsiella, Enterococci, Multi resistant Ecolis, and various Streptococci. She is now being treated for a group b strep uti, and her GP doesn’t seem too concerned that this particular bug has returned 3 times in 2 months. Just orders another culture, gives her another prescription and shrugs about how it’s just one of those things.
So my question is..is it just one of those things?? Does this sound like its immunology related, or do uti prone children without other underlying issues, frequently get multiple growths of different uti organisms in this way? Just curious to know what’s normal on the uti spectrum of normal?! Thank you
