To take the BIG TV back because it's too BIG?

Went to cirrus yesterday with the other half. Mistake no 1🙄.

Let him out of my site (I got distracted by how many bloody kettles they're was🙄) Mistake no 2

Found him in the tv section talking to two sales guys. DP wanted the massive tv that was OLED or something. Crazy prices.

I then somehow got talked into a 50inch (because at least it was smaller and cheaper). Mistake no. 3.

It's in the Frontroom and its Massive!! The smaller TVs were more expensive because this 50 inch one was on a manufacturers deal.

Would it be unreasonable to take it back because it's too BIG?

DP is now away for a few days with work.

Honestly, you'll get used to it Grin

If its open they probably wouldn't take it back anyway.

Bluntness100 · 29/01/2019 12:14

The size of the tv should be correlated to the size of the room and the viewing distance, our living room is huge, so we have. 55 inch that pulls out, as we are a fair distance from it, but the other room is smaller and so is the tv, it coildnt take it.

If it's too big for the room. Then take it back.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/01/2019 12:18

I made this mistake, it looked reasonably sized in the shop ... I got swept up in the sale and forgot our pokey front room is tiny so now you have your retinas burnt out every time the TV is on. We've got used to it but newcomers often comment on how big the TV is. Blush

Santaclarita · 29/01/2019 12:20

My partner tried to get a 50 inch TV but I refused. 43 is better in our living room, 58 would be too big. I'm sure you could take it back and exchange for a smaller one.

MeetJoeTurquoise · 29/01/2019 12:29

You'll get used to it, I have. I nearly had kittens when I saw the size of the box but I'm used to it now.

Darkbaptism · 29/01/2019 12:36

I remember finding my 40” TV massive when we bought it, now it’s starting to feel quite small! You’ll get used to it.

WheelyCote · 29/01/2019 14:09

Lol!!!

I remember when 43 inch was BIG. My old tv looks like a portable in comparison haha

I've got to take the toaster (don't ask) back to swap, I picked up the wrong colour....I will have a chat with them.

It sounds like TVs are just getting bigger and bigger

We still have a 28inch and will be upgrading soon to another one. We don't need a ginormous tv, particularly in a small living room.

I would take it back OP.

Craft1905 · 29/01/2019 14:29

"I remember when 43 inch was BIG."

I remember when 24" was huge. And then colour tv arrived.

QuestionableMouse · 29/01/2019 14:32

My parents have a 50 inch which looks massive in their (huge) room. I hate it but they both like it...

BusySnipingOnCallOfDuty · 29/01/2019 14:34

Ours is about 40" my OH says.
Swap? Grin

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 29/01/2019 14:37

We've got a 55inch and we love it.You'll get used to it

x2boys · 29/01/2019 14:40

!maybe you need a bigger room?Grin My dsis has a 65" tv in her lounge she has a big house and a big lounge, whist obviously it looks big or doesn't look too big it would look ridiculous in my much smaller lounge

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/01/2019 14:42

Hate too large TVs. (1) You end up swivel eyed and (2) even great films look like coronation st due to the screen resolution. I don’t want to see the pores of celebrities as they emote in front of me.

JustBeingJobless · 29/01/2019 17:26

I don’t think you’ve got much hope of Curry’s taking it back to be honest. I used to work there and they certainly never used to swap things once they’ve been opened, unless they’re faulty, as it’s then a second hand item which they can’t resell at full price. Unless their policies have changed since I was there of course!

EdWinchester · 29/01/2019 17:29

I hate big TVs. I don’t want to walk into a room and just see a mahoosive TV. Unless it is a separate cinema room; I’d tolerate that.

StartedEarly · 29/01/2019 17:33

No it's your room that's too small. You need to move house.Grin.

You will get used to it within a week.

WheelyCote · 29/01/2019 18:16

Hahaha
Yes a bigger house would be betterGrin

The teenagers have waded in and want to keep the tv....to play the PlayStation games on. Not a chance. They'd move into the Frontroom. Eldest Dteen is protecting the TV🙄

I'm off to Currys shortly and I'll have a chat with them

Somebody mentioned they're retinas being burned out. I've just watched 'Sas who dares win' and my eyes feel stunned!!!

Tv is still here and you were all right, I've got used to it.
Also shuffled the room about too which makes a difference. Thanks for your reply's

It all depends on your room size.
We have a 75” but the room can hold it fine.
