More of a WWYD - I am sure AINBU! Drug Dealing outside my house

So - I live on a housing estate, a bloke from around the corner is dealing drugs - think well known & prolific - he has moved his operations to right across the road from my house in full view - the bloke has some brass neck. I have a few options.

  1. I confront them when the deal is happening & tell them to do one elsewhere
  2. I could easily video/photo the deals and purchasers BUT if the police used it it would be very obvious it was me taking the photos & tbh I am little scared of the retribution when I have a 6 yo
  3. Do nothing
  4. Tell the police but refuse to provide any evidence & wash my hands of the matter - problem is I am not convinced they would do anything at all without some proof off me.

So more of a WWYD - Hubby thinks I should just keep my nose out & AIBU by getting involved - it just really, really, really pisses me off!

Call to the police. Give the estate and what time they're there. Or call as it's happening. I know someone who did this and since they had the best 'view' they ended up with special branch in their house watching.

There was obviously a bit more going on but if you want them gone without getting dragged into it anonymous is the best way I'd think.

Bumblebee39 · 28/01/2019 10:22

I would like to think that I would do the right thing but I know from experience I wouldn't

alwaysthepessimist · 28/01/2019 12:51

@RuggerHug - I did that and nothing happened - the local PCSO told me to call 101 to report it each time (this was about 12 months ago and someone different who appears to have moved on) anyway, I called 101 and gave up after being on hold 45 minutes!!! Part of me wants to stomp out and give them a reet good slapping and another wants to be an ostrich and do bugger all - after all they aren't doing any harm to me but the moral, law abiding bit of me is pig sick of it all

How many transactions a day is it?

Angelicinnocent · 28/01/2019 12:56

If you have a decent MP, contact them. Advise you have been told to ring 101 as it is happening but that they never answer and since the police know where they are dealing, you would be grateful if they could get something done about it.

alwaysthepessimist · 28/01/2019 13:12

@BiscuitDrama - I am not normally home all day but last week due to sick child & me I actually was - one day I clocked 5 transactions - no idea how many I missed. Every day though he was there dealing, most appear to be 'regulars' - the only day I didn't see any was Sunday - must be his day of rest eh?!

@Angelicinnocent - MP is a wimp, local councillor is pretty hot though so maybe I go down that route - I have called 101 this am and asked for the local PCSO to call me & not show up at my house & I have made a report on crimestoppers (no idea what they will do with the info)

confront them when the deal is happening & tell them to do one elsewhere

I strongly suggest you don't do this. It could result in repercussion. Especially if the police come knocking shortly after.

DustyMaiden · 28/01/2019 13:30

Report it anonymously to crime stoppers

woolduvet · 28/01/2019 13:31

I called crime stoppers once on my dealing neighbours. They said thanks for the info.
I woke up one morning to 5 police vans and a couple of cars. Definitely took it seriously.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 28/01/2019 13:37

You can report on line - they get round to it eventually - but if you knwo the the dealer is doing his stuff eg at 8pm every night, you can put that in your report.

TBH the police know who is dealing what and where. If this bloke is low level, they wont arrest him, someone bigger, dealing shite will move in and they wont want to risk that.

LampShadeHeid · 28/01/2019 13:37

Could you put up a dummy cctv camera and sign to highlight it’s a cctv area? It might make them reconsider their actions, but if approached about it feign story about car being keyed or deter theives.

HollaHolla · 28/01/2019 13:38

I’d call Crimestoppers. They were brilliant when this was happening in my street. They were discreet, and didn’t tell where they’d been tipped off.
The offenders were charged within 4 weeks, and moved out within 3 months. Fingers crossed for you.

alwaysthepessimist · 28/01/2019 13:45

@PlainSpeakingStraightTalking - that's why hubby doesn't want me saying anything - his view is the guy isn't doing us any harm but if we disrupt the supply and it gets known it was us then the repercussions aren't worth it.

@LampShadeHeid - I don't want to do the CCTV thing - I think that would be worse tbh.

I have done the online report so I will wait and see if it all stops or is the PCSO actually ever gets round to calling me....

Report on 101/online each time you see it. It will help the police to build up a picture.

I've reported dealing in my old street and recently outside my office.

Presumably if he's dealing in the street lots of people can see him, so won't know it's you.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/01/2019 14:23

Confronting a DRUG DEALER is literally the most foolish idea I've ever heard. You can't possibly be that daft, surely?

alwaysthepessimist · 28/01/2019 15:12

@Aquamarine - I am menopausal so some days I literally have no common sense!! But NO I won't be doing it.

The local PCSO has called me & I have filled him in - hopefully it will stop/move/go away now
