AIBU to suggest that all the newly painted stick figures be upgraded with both boobs and curly moustaches, so as to be EVEN MORE inclusive?

Sorry, why is Aldi fishing for transphobes?

Sorry, why is Aldi fishing for transphobes?

Don't be obtuse.

CarolinePooter · 28/01/2019 11:23

Not obtuse; you said "they" as in plural, as in Aldi. Not "she" as in singular, as in me. Apologies for misunderstanding.

I said "they" as a gender neutral pronoun.

CarolinePooter · 28/01/2019 11:36

But did you mean me in particular, or others who have commented?

I think it's good actually. It pisses me off slightly that the baby change area in our supermarket has a picture of a woman. The parking spots have a picture of a woman.

I understand what you're saying, but is it better to never have a picture of a woman on anything, ever?

CarolinePooter · 28/01/2019 11:44

Exactly, which is why I suggested adding boobs and moustaches!

Well I think that the societal expectation that women will be primary caregivers is hugely damaging but gender neutral signage is going to do absolutely nothing to deal with that. This is tokenism and tokenism is so pointless that I find it massively frustrations.

CarolinePooter · 28/01/2019 11:49

I agree it is tokenism, and rather ostentatious at that.
