HELP

Brand new Mum here, just realised I've run out of maternity pads. Still bleeding heavily. DH can get to a shop in a couple hours but in the mean time WHAT do I do?! I'm considering putting a nappy in there basically. Would that work as a temporary solution?!?!

So embarrassing. Have NC. Please have sympathy.

yeah why not, if you don't have to go anywhere. Poor you! Hope you're doing OK otherwise - congratulations.

dontticklethetoad · 28/01/2019 06:05

Use a nappy.

Not sure quite why this warrants a name change though Hmm

helphelphel · 28/01/2019 06:05

Didn't know if the nappy would "hold up" to the "flow" Blush

Thank you, I'm completely in love and he's great - but I completely underestimated the aftermath body wise!! Confused

Yes cut a nappy down.

Cherrysherbet · 28/01/2019 06:06

A nappy sounds fine to me, as a temporary solution. It should work fine. Congratulations on your new arrival 😊

helphelphel · 28/01/2019 06:07

@dontticklethetoad I'm a fairly frequent poster with a few maybe "outing" (Not that is care) posts but this is highly embarrassing for me to ask about, so if anyone did recognise me I wouldn't want this on there SadSad

No other sanitary pads in the house? You'd just need to change more frequently.

A nappy would work, but the elastic leg bands on disposables would leave your nethers a bit raw tho. Probably less painful if you have terry squares handy?

Good luck.

helphelphel · 28/01/2019 06:07

Thank you all, off to do the weirdest "craft project" yet. Hope you all slept better than I did Blush

Yep nappy will be fine. Really no need to be embarrassed at all, I used a cut up nappy for breast pads once. I wouldn't recommend it as the crystals made my nipples really sore!

Hedgehogblues · 28/01/2019 06:11

Cut up some old towels?

cricketmum84 · 28/01/2019 06:17

Wouldn't the crystals leak if you cut into a nappy? You might be better off cutting up an old towel instead.

Hope the sleep situation improves soon Thanks congratulations on your new arrival!

Oysterbabe · 28/01/2019 06:22

I wouldn't want the crystals on my bits. Just cut the leg bands not the actual nappy.

Kahlua4me · 28/01/2019 06:23

Don’t think cutting it would be a good idea, just use it as is. It will be slightly more jconfortable but it’s not for long

congratulations on your new baby

Maverick66 · 28/01/2019 06:24

Old towel.
Cut and folded.

kaytee87 · 28/01/2019 06:28

Old towel or nappy folded rather than cut.
Tell her husband to buy lots of pads. I bled for 6 weeks after giving birth.

Congratulations on your baby 💖

I have been up with toddler since 3am so not much sleep here either.

Bamchic · 28/01/2019 06:29

Towels xxx

Passthepigs · 28/01/2019 06:32

Use it as an excuse for an hour long bath until DH has been to the shops.

EdkenePomtufe · 28/01/2019 06:32

Don't cut up a nappy! Terrible idea! All sorts of stuff will go everywhere. Just put the whole nappy in your pants, spread out.

planespotting · 28/01/2019 06:32

I used a nappy before
A bit uncomfortable but it works

planespotting · 28/01/2019 06:33

@EarthboundMisfit gosh I did the same and learnt about the crystals too! I then started to put an entire nappy across both boobs
I had forgotten

Windgate · 28/01/2019 06:33

Can't DH nip out now? Corner shops and garages stock sanitary towels, he could just pick up a couple of packs of the most absorbent they have. Even incontinence pads would help.

planespotting · 28/01/2019 06:34

Just put the whole nappy on dont cut it

Dermymc · 28/01/2019 06:44

Don't cut the nappy!

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 28/01/2019 06:45

God I used nappies a lot ! Rip the sides off and jobs a good one

Don’t stress it Flowers

Cookit · 28/01/2019 06:49

Oh gosh yes don’t cut the nappy, that would be bad.
