To think you don't drive with a cup of tea in between your legs?

My DH is lovely, but sometimes makes decisions that baffle me.

He's just told me that he drives to work with his tea in a mug between his legs.

When I told him in no uncertain terms what an idiotic and dangerous thing this was to do, he said I was making a ridiculous fuss and it was lukewarm so wouldn't be a problem.

Full disclaimer, he has a travel mug in the cup holderwhich is full of his second cup of tea.

He is normally sensible and very H&S conscious. (Needs to be because of his job)

He's pretty intelligent in most walks of life.

It causes a massive row as I genuinely couldn't believe anyone would think was safe or sensible.

So AIBU? His response was so baffling I am doubting myself.

My overriding thought here is can't he manage a commute without having instant access to a fluid of some sort?
Especially when there's already a back up fluid less than a foot away from him?

It's a bit childish really, that.

I know of someone who dropped a hot cigarette on their lap, looked down to brush it off, crashed headlong into another car and killed the occupant. His life was destroyed as well as his victim and their family so I completely agree with you, idiotic behaviour by your dh. Lots of practical solutions given on this thread.

Perhaps he needs a Tommee Tippee cup.

I'd be angry too. It's ludicrous.

I've just re-read that he's using a normal mug, not a travel mug. That's do going to spill and he'll look like he's wet himself. Grin

Why not 2 travel mugs instead of a normal mug?

used to have a neighbour who did this would see him slurping his tea while using his elbows on the steering wheel used to scare the bejesus out of me
