Just a quick one, I have a 3 year old but we could afford to use ready made milk when he was born (which was a luxury!)
I really want to invest in powder this time round as I’m really trying to save money in all aspects of our life and I was just wondering how you go about making these up?
What I specifically mean is, do you boil your water in the morning and fill the necessary amount of bottles up and THEN put the powder in (frowned upon I think which is why I’m asking)
Or do you actually stand by the kettle in the middle of the night waiting for the boiled water to cook for 30 mins as per the instructions?
Even with using ready made at night for ease I’m still loathed to think I’ll have to anticipate each feed and wait for the water etc... or am I just being lazy?!
Completely happy to be told I’m lazy!

Thanks in advance all!

DD is dairy-free and her formula had to be made up with cold water instead of hot. So we did the water all at once and then made up the bottles as we needed them. It was so much easier, and she never got ill.

When mine were on small amounts (up to 4oz i found that making a bottle fresh then cooling it under a running tap in a jug hooked onto my draining board worked perfectly. While it was cooling I changed the baby's nappy, went back to wash hands and it was cool. Fed baby back to sleep. Once they drank larger amounts they didnt wake much

Ah thank you all so much, really helpful suggestions here!! I knew I could count on MN!
It was the batch preparing I was thinking of doing as I knew years ago that’s what my mum did but at the same time I know guidelines change for a reason.
I am going to try and breastfeed but it really wasn’t successful with my son and he ended up on bottles in the first 2 weeks so I’m just preparing in case, am defo going to be using the MAM bottles because I found such a relief in my son’s colic after switching from Tommee tippee and I don’t mind paying the money for the perfect prep but I read stuff on mould in the actual pipes of the machine so was put off really, also not sure if they would fit MAM bottles under where the water comes out.
Adding boiling to powder and then topping up with cool boiled is a fab idea also, never even thought of that 🤦🏻‍♀️
