AIBU to think that this isn't the time to practice walking.

DS has decided that 4am is the time to wake me up and is now practicing how to walk around the room by standing up and pushing a small chair around.

AIBU to think that this could be done instead during the daylight hours?

Probably. How old is he?

Kpo58 · 26/01/2019 04:56

He's going to be 1 in February.

treasure this memory. get some video filmed if you can. my 9yo simply loves watching the film of him age 1 learning to walk this way, and the fact it is happening in the wee small hours will make the memory so much more precious when you are reminiscing about the days when he was tiny.

CharlyAngelic · 26/01/2019 05:18

He is under 1 . You are BU. It is great that he is doing it .

PregnantSea · 26/01/2019 05:35

Your baby is learning to walk, it's a very special moment. Who cares what time it is?

artisanscotcheggs · 26/01/2019 05:36

lmao

SummersB · 26/01/2019 05:42

WTF is wrong with people? Clearly this is a lighthearted post of a very overtired mother. Telling her she is unreasonable for wanting to, you know, SLEEP at 4am is ridiculous!
OP - YANBU and your post made me chuckle. My kids are all much older now and no, I do not treasure those memories of being absolutely knackered! There are many precious moments I look back on - being awake in the wee hours and feeling absolutely desperate to sleep is not one of them! Hang on in there though, it does get better.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 26/01/2019 05:45

Hahaha, I feel your pain :)

bibbitybobbityyhat · 26/01/2019 05:53

Yanbu! There's a time and a place baby Grin. But how did he get out of his cot?

Monty27 · 26/01/2019 05:54

Good lord grab him back to bed and go walking later Grin

littlecabbage · 26/01/2019 05:55

YANBU!

Kahlua4me · 26/01/2019 06:07

No time like the present 😊!

My ds was always up very early, always. He is now 15 and finally sleeps in...

Ohnonotuagain · 26/01/2019 06:13

You have my sympathy!

Chewinggumwalk · 26/01/2019 06:15

Mine is also a discobabe, who parties all night and thinks sleep is for the weak.

She is right. I am the weak 😭😭.

Learning to walk is very special though, well done little one Cake

ItsMEhooray · 26/01/2019 06:30

YANBU. Back to sleep cheeky walking baby

UterusUterusGhali · 26/01/2019 06:36

Awwww I learned to walk in the wee small hours too, so my mum likes to remind me at least twice a year.

Hope they tired themselves out!

TickleMeEmo · 26/01/2019 06:37

Haha DS does this every time he learns something new... crawling, walking, just now it’s him waking up to tell me about “cat dog cow sheep duck quack quack” 😂

Mumblers · 26/01/2019 07:14

Put baby back to bed and in about 16 years time wake up said 'baby' at 4am and push a dining chair round his bedroom and hiss through clenched teeth 'Not so cute now huh?'

CanIcryandlaugh20 · 26/01/2019 07:31

My daughter was delayed in her walking due to health reasons, so just before she turned 2 ! We were at peppe pig land and stood her holding this can’t even remember what it was now like a statue or bench or something anyway she spotted the peppa Pig store and off she bloody toddled practically running in to the shop 😂🤣 she got whatever she wanted ! Now that was great timing haha !

silverliningsa · 26/01/2019 07:34

Haha I feel your pain! 12 month old twins, one slept through till 7, amazing, but the other decided they wanted to practice their walking at 5 this morning. So I don't even get to reap the benefit of one sleeping through 😭

Billballbaggins · 26/01/2019 07:39

When a baby/toddler is learning a new skill they want to practice it all the bloody time! In theory 4am walking is cute, probably not so for the tired OP, though. For my son, who was a shite sleeper til approx 1yo, it was the rolling over stage that he would practice all night long. At the time I was soooooo shattered!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 26/01/2019 07:43

1 yos are fucking unreasonable. I should know, I've got two.

DD decided 4am was a grand time to practice her new word ("hiya! Hiya! HIYAAAAA!").

DS slept through tonight but when he did wake up he bit me with his new tooth Hmm
