dingledangles · 25/01/2019 21:17

Oh 😂 has she actually been seen in this series?? The children haven't been in it as much as they were before!

Lululemonade · 25/01/2019 21:22

dingledangles · 25/01/2019 21:22

dingledangles · 25/01/2019 21:23

@Lululemonade think I'm watching that one now, is it the one where Sharon starts running?

Lululemonade · 25/01/2019 21:41

@dingledangles ooooh no running in it. I think it was the one on last week, I watched it tonight on catch up and we are never up to date. It was the one where Rob’s sister had become a Quaker and he went along to a meeting. Then at the end the sister got a call from her stbxh and went psycho and the baby just sat there smiling-I hadn’t realised she was still meant to be so small so I was surprised to see her there

dayswithaY · 25/01/2019 21:55

They both just bounce out of the house to go to work in the mornings with no children and no mention of them - do they just leave them at home? Reminds me of baby Emma in Friends who was never with her parents. I am aware it's just TV!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 25/01/2019 22:05

Yes, DH and I keep commenting on that - where are their children?! They keep just popping out together, the two of them, with not much in the way of preparation (the most recent one they do get a babysitter - but really, who gets a babysitter just to go running together?!). At one point the baby is shown in a bouncer, suggesting she's still pretty tiny, but apparently has no impact on her parents' lives at all?!

It somehow seems worse than in Friends etc but this is ostensibly a comedy about keeping a marriage going through kids etc - well, it's a lot easier if your kids magically and conveniently disappear constantly!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 25/01/2019 22:14

I did have the quite depressing thought as the - generally very happy! - mother of quite a young baby watching The Letdown (most realistic TV depiction of early parenthood I've ever seen but they still go out without the baby unrealistically often) that you would never get a completely realistic depiction of having a small baby on TV because it's just too tedious - you don't go anywhere, do anything, or even talk about that much except the baby!

WineCheeseSleep · 25/01/2019 22:18

I was wondering exactly the same thing! I'm really enjoying this series, sad it's the last one.

WhirlwindHugs · 25/01/2019 22:22

Rob Delaney wrote this series after his toddler son died, I can imagine he might have wanted to focus more of the relationship stuff than having child actors on set.

He did a very brutally honest interview with Russell Howard about it all.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/01/2019 23:10

They have the weirdest double buggy thing and the baby is on the sort of ground floor level of that in a lot of the outdoor scenes.

dingledangles · 26/01/2019 13:25

@WhirlwindHugs I saw that last night when trying to google, horrendous :-( they've had another haven't they? But it would be weird to not even mention the children? I haven't registered any mention of the little girl! Or even crying in the background etc

@LisaSimpsonsbff what is letdown? I'm not sure if I've watched it or not, is it on sky?

@dayswithaY I know it's just tv but it still really bothers me 😂

@Lululemonade I think I must have seen her on there, but maybe didn't register as it's not long?

The Letdown is an Australian comedy. It's on Netflix and everyone I know who watched it loved it - but if you watch it with a newborn (as I stupidly did) it's all a bit close to home!

Clionba · 26/01/2019 17:41

I find it strange about the children as well, particularly the baby girl. She's never part of the scenes. As pp have said, it's about a relationship, but they don't act like parents much of the time!

dingledangles · 26/01/2019 17:57

@LisaSimpsonsbff ahh I don't have Netflix 😔
