To think Wilkos are taking the pee?

Saw some lovely throw blankets in there for the house. One burgundy and one mustard. Both identical aside from colour, neither marked as being reduced etc.

Burgundy- £8.
Mustard - £25!!!!!

Taking complete advantage of the mustard craze. Like I say no markdowns, no "this season/last season". Would totally understand in that case, or if the difference was only a couple of pounds. But more than triple?!?!?

Tell you what is taking the pee, Joules selling identical pairs of socks at different prices because one pair is 2018 (£3.50) and one is 2019 (£8.95). Even the assistant stated they were identical socks, just different ticket codes on them.

itsaboojum · 24/01/2019 13:43

This is like the fuss over pink razors, isn’t it?

Two identical products that do exactly the same thing. Two different prices. No one to stop you buying the cheaper one: same size, same quality, same function.

Think of it as a surcharge on stupidity.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 24/01/2019 13:45

But Coral and Jade are this years colours

Mustard is so last year .

Taking complete advantage of the mustard craze.

Don’t get sucked into ‘crazes’. Don’t buy a mustard throw just because it’s what everybody else is doing, and as if by magic you’ll have saved yourself £25.

If you’re suggestible enough to blindly follow the herd then you’re going to get ripped off fairly regularly.

Grin

But it’s a CRAZE!!! People are being forced to buy them at gunpoint! Imagine the shame of not having a throw in this season’s ‘in’ colour! Shock

theworldistoosmall · 24/01/2019 13:58

I never understood why some people accessorise their homes based on what others say is in.
Buy what you like not what designers and influencers tell you. You think they are in it for you? Of course they have to convince you , they have a vested interest.

It's called retail - you pay for the latest trends...…….

InSightMars · 24/01/2019 14:11

It’s the same in every store, they can see the demand for mustard is high but they’re getting little take up on the burgundy or their buyer overstocked, so they cut their losses and offload the burgundy to recoup what they can.

I remember the 1970s as predominantly orange and brown

I didn’t experience it directly (scrapped into the 80’s by the skin of my teeth), but this. 80’s was black, red and white in my mind. 90’s was half and half walls and 00’s was red.

This decade is definitely going to be grey/teal grey/baby poo.

tillytrotter1 · 24/01/2019 14:14

Market forces! We bought a small cream and oak bookcase from Homebase for £40, the grey one was £70 because grey is the in-fashion colour.
No complaints from me, I wanted a cream and oak one anyway!

Ellie56 · 24/01/2019 14:18

Well I'd buy the burgundy one and be very pleased the prices weren't the other way round, as there's no way I'd buy mustard even if it was a bargain.

diddl · 24/01/2019 14:31

"I remember the 1970s as predominantly orange and brown"

Yuo!

I've got an M&S melamine tray that fits the above description!

I so pleased that crazes usually pass me by.

Burgundy throw for £8!
