With a joint income of £2300?

Posting for traffic for opinions.

At present we pay £500. Obviously it all depends on what other outgoings you have, but just wondering if we should be aiming for paying more ?

We had a life time tracker mortgage on our first house, weren't allowed to port it over when we moved though Sad. It was just so cheap!

We now pay £725 per month and have an income of around £3500 per month.

Yes we are fortunate its technically not a mortgage company we owe the money to. A kind family member helped us out, though once paid back obviously wheb moving it will have to be a proper mortgage.

I read something about stamp duty last night- i think i we would be ok as i doubt we could afford anything where stamp duty would need to be paid.

If a property is being transferred to you (as it would because you will own it); therefore, unless it's under the threshold you will still need to pay stamp duty.
