Aibu to think this may be bed wetting

Iv a child who's incredibly sweaty at night, always has been. Since he was about 7 he wakes up with saturated underpants every night, bed may be damp or not (He sleeps in underpants and onsie or just pants).

It's now started to wake him and he's changing his pants twice and night. He asked for disposable pull ups tonight (his little brother not night dry) as he's sick of waking to change his underwear. So I'm going to take him to doctor's.

We don't think it's wet dreams as pants are so wet but doesn't seem enough to be urine as in bed wetting. It's a bit of a mystery tbh. Just wondered if anyone else has come across this.

How old is he?
You would know if it’s urine when you smelt it.

He's now 10 and irritated by it all. It doesn't smell strong enough imo to be urine but would swearing really saturate underwear so badly

My youngest 14, is a sweaty kid! By that I mean he’s always warm, even now in winter he’s in bed in just his boxers and will sleep on top of the quilt, whilst I’m in fleece pj’s under the duvet. Right from when he was a baby, he would easily sweat when he had clothes on and was getting warm. Honestly though, he’s never sweated so much that he’s soaked his boxers. If anything it would be a t-shirt, something on his upper torso.

Does ds where a t-shirt or pj top to bed? I’m guessing if he was sweating enough to soak boxers then his top would be damp also?

Does he have a waterproof bed sheet on that will make him hotter in his sleep?

Waveysnail · 22/01/2019 22:41

Thanks for replies.

He sometimes wears just underpants and his duvet. He's taken to wearing his fleece onsie with no bed covers as I'm keeping his bedroom very cool (most of upstairs is chilly). I think fleece wicks the wetness away so it's not damp as such.

Thick cotton matress protector on bed as he never wets through bed just top sheet can feel damp.

Yes my DS used to get v sweaty with a waterproof sheet - not as sweaty as you describe though. Google nightsweats in children. Lots if interesting stuff comes up but looks like it's normal.

Could I suggest no pants? My DH isa hot person and has to sleep completely naked. Can't even wear pants. I on the other hand wear multiple layers and bed socks!
