We NEED some snow days to break up the tedium before feb half term.

Elfinablender · 22/01/2019 17:38

I want some snow, but it keeps passing us by. I'll take any snow at this point, even that mushy shitty snow that comes to the ground with a sad ending even though the ground is cold and dry.

I wouldn't mind if it was a decent amount. It's just that messy dusty effect here in Berks which can't be tarted up with candles.

YABU but I do kind of see your point. I think Christmas should be moved to January!

I am making a mini Christmas dinner tonight Blush

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 22/01/2019 17:47

Rockbird might be like me

I have little strings of fairy lights all year round .

Highpeak · 22/01/2019 17:51

I like it I live somewhere where we get a lot at least once a year, getting snowed in is likely. Looking forward to DD playing in it as she was too little last year

Sandsnake · 22/01/2019 17:51

YABU. Snow is wonderful!

Drogosnextwife · 22/01/2019 17:53

YANBU, snow may come on the 24th of December and be complete gone by the 26th. That is the only acceptable time for snow it's a pain in the arse at any other time.

KaliforniaDreamz · 22/01/2019 17:53

YANBU and my 11yo DD just said the exact same thing

LikeACowsOpinion · 22/01/2019 17:57

The snowstorm last March brought some epic snow here.

Everything was closed pretty much.
Apart from the local pub which is conveniently backed on to a huge hill - adults inside by the log fires with drinks/board games/nibbles; kids outside having fun in the snow.

Was amazing.

YABU.

Snow is pointless any time. It's just cold rain. Except rain doesn't run you off the road :(

Witchend · 22/01/2019 18:06

My fairy lights are still up. And they look lovely, thanks. Grin

Whitelisbon · 22/01/2019 18:33

I hate snow.
We live in a bit of a dip of sorts, as soon as there's an inch of snow on the ground we're snowed in. Literally no way in or out of the village.
Last year, dd1 had to sleep at a friends for 3 nights, as we couldn't get her home from school. This year, I have 3 dc who att3nd school outwith the village, which could pose logistical problems.
So, the snow can fuck off.

YABVVVVU. The chance of snow is the one bright point in the post-Christmas months! If it’s a decent fall everything looks so fresh and bright. And it looks so lovely falling, especially at night in the street lights.

My view may be coloured by my wildly excited kids, and the fact I didn’t see snow fall until I was nearly 30.

Mentounasc · 22/01/2019 18:36

Go be fair, it's not snow per se that's so awful - it's just that the UKis a few degrees too warm (or not cold enough) to produce really good dry snow. And because snow falls in relatively few years, it's apparently not financially worthwhile making any sort of preparations whatsoever, which obviously makes life pretty tough when it does hit. Snow is actually amazing at minus 10, with snow tyres on the car, pavements properly cleared and gritted, everyone properly dressed for the occasion. Countries with more regular snowfall have all that as standard, but it's obviously less of a priority in Britain.
