Am I the only one who doesn’t get hen party invites?!

There’s been loads of posts about hen party angst. Some people are saying they get invited to several a year costing lots of money.

I must be living in a different universe! I’m 30 and I’ve been to one hen party for which I was also a bridesmaid. My “hen party” would basically be two long-standing friends I’ve known for years and a newish friend from a previous job.

Do most people have huge groups of female friends as I’ve never been able to manage it - not that I want to but just curious...

🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm nearly ten years older than you and I've never been to one. There were three potentials:

  1. My sister - wasn't invited (and wouldn't have wanted to go anyway)

  2. Best friend - assumed she hadn't invited me as I live nowhere near her, and I wouldn't have gone if she had (major trek to get to where she lives from mine, and I was going for the wedding anyway). Was slightly peeved not to be invited anyway, but never mind. Turns out she didn't have one, but I'd have definitely got an invite if she had (even though she knows I couldn't have made it, and wouldn't have been in the least bit offended by that!).

  3. Friend I've known all my life. Was invited, didn't go. I was gobsmacked at how quickly the cost kept mounting. Cheap by MN standards (£500 not including my travel, but, once again, I moved away from where I know her from so the extra is 'my fault') but, the wedding was abroad (where B+G now live) and I just couldn't afford to pay for the hen and the wedding.

31 and have been to 1 (don’t know why I was even invited as we aren’t really close she wanted to get her numbers up ).

I have 4 close friends and none of us are married yet (me and one other engaged) and I’m not planning on having a hen!

I don’t know anyone who has done a hen party. They are quite naff. Couldn’t imagine any of my close friends having one.

Massive generalisation there and quite a stuck up attitude to be fair!! I've been to countless over the years (Im 42) they have all been different but all special in their own way. From quietish afternoon tea style affairs to full on abroad trips.
In fact I'm off on one this weekend and can't wait.

I've been to one and I hated every moment. My own consisted of the female members of my extended family luring me to a restaurant and having a lovely meal and a giggle. I can't think of much worse than a hen night/weekend/holiday.

I'm coming on for 38 and I've never been to, or been invited to a hen party. Thank heavens!
