To buy a new buggy?

DD has just turned 3. She is quite small for her age, a little wobbly on her feet still, and ok on a scooter but not for any long distance.

I now do the school/nursery run 3 times a day and our Maclaren has died a death. It's killing my shoulder to push around. She's also falling out of it when napping!

WIBU to buy a new buggy? We gave our last proper buggy to charity when we had a huge clear out, which had served us 5 years with DS but was a bit scuzzy - I just want the same one again though. I thought the Maclaren would see us through but I've used it so much it's ruined! This is the kind of thing that'll make DH flip, but it's me living with the hopeless stroller not him!

The buggy I'm after is normally £359 but there's one on amazon for £269 (must be an old colour). We've an upcoming trip and I'll be managing DCs through the airport on my own - I need a buggy that works!

AIBU??

And yes I've looked for second hand, contacted many sellers but to no avail- and in the kids charity shops - nothing suitable!

WIBU to just buy it? We can afford it (although trying to draw the horns in a bit the next few months).

We won't "off road" with it, I just need it around town/airport/bumpy pavements but needs to be one handed. I also like that it's quite low to the ground - they can climb in and out on their own, assuming they aren't strapped in if course.

I loved the big canopy on city mini, also the fold. If anyone had any other contenders please do tell me! The M&Papas is a contender for £114!

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but is there much difference between the city mini and the gt version? I want something that's really easy to push, having had a bugaboo and an out n about, but need something that folds up really small now and the city mini seems ideal. There is a big difference in price between the 2 versions though...

Wasywasydoodah · 20/01/2019 22:49

I have a city mini 4 wheel (not gt) and can confirm it is very easily pushed with 1 hand, handles a lot of bumps, kerbs, minor off-roading and is the most durable amazing buggy ever. I destroyed my bugaboo with 3 kids but the city mini is still going strong despite more use than the bugaboo.

They don't fold that small.... flat yes, but small no.... I've just found the city mini tour.... one handed fold, can come on as hand luggage, AND one handed steer! Anyone tried this one??

Secondhand armadillo from mamas and papas. So easy to push one handed. Fold up and down one handed. Wheels come off easily if you need them too. Big canopy and easy for child to get in and out of. Loved loved mine. Wore it into the ground. Depends if there's any going local to you though I suppose.

We have a Pockit stroller for travel. Lightweight and folds down tiny so fits in your hand luggage! Also means you can take it right to the gate, and not have to leave it at customs to put in the hold.

Thanks for advice everyone, just won an old city mini for £50!

Cracking! Enjoy your trip. :)

Thesmallthings · 21/01/2019 21:33

I wouldn't pay that much at all.

She's 3, get a normal stroller. 40 -60 quid. The air port is just what 2 days of awkward driving

It may be knackered in 6 -12 month but by then she won't need a stroller.

Thesmallthings · 21/01/2019 21:34

Indidnt read the second page. My bad.

Awesome find.

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 21/01/2019 21:37

100% support wanting a city mini gt. Ours is a godsend. If you hadn't found one the Tour is supposed to be really good

Anuta77 · 04/02/2019 13:49

Just buy the bloody baggy for Christ's sake! Is this even worth posting on a forum about??!!

Lizzie112 · 25/02/2019 16:57

How young was your lo when you used this pram? I’ve looked at the armadillo for my 4 month old. She’s really long and has outgrown her carrycot already.

Coffeeisnecessary · 25/02/2019 17:00

Keep looking second hand! Took me ages to sell my city mini despite it being in excellent condition and with loads of accessories, I was only asking £80!

Coffeeisnecessary · 25/02/2019 17:01

Oops just seen your update! Well done!

roses2 · 25/02/2019 17:08

You know your child and how much you use the buggy. Go with your instinct. If you think you will get value out of a £260 buggy and can’t find second hand then go for it!

My DS1 is 6 and still loves the buggy. DS2 is 3 and prefers to walk.

roses2 · 25/02/2019 17:09

Just seen your update - brilliant!

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/02/2019 17:13

I have a nanu from Mothercare as a lil side buggy.. cost £60 and cannot fault it.. light and easy to push..
I wouldn't dream of spending that amount of money on a stroller that may not be used for long and is about to be chucked in the hold of a plane

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/02/2019 17:13

Oh haha.. welldone!
