What is it?

I’m a lone parent to one DC who is growing up and I don’t have much else in my life. I’ve spent the last decade working very hard in low paid jobs that fit around school/activities. I’d love a job that the more I do the more I reap, be it financially or emotionally.

I finally have the opportunity to study but I’m lost as to what to do or how to go about it.

If you have a vocation or a job you could give your life to, what is it?

I'm a speech and language therapist in the NHS and I work with children with SEN. I absolutely love it. Usually the hours fly by and I'm so proud of my profession.

I spent 20 years running a company supplying computer support to small businesses. I enjoyed it but after 20 years I burned myself out and needed a change.

I now work as a support worker supporting vulnerable young adults at risk of homelessness. I adore it, it's varied, it has a huge element of mentoring and problem solving and there is zero personal care. I enjoy the company of the small team I work with as well. The hours are good and the pay much better than the equivalent 'care support work'. The company I work for are great and there's loads of training and quals to be had if you want to go further. I seem to have been lucky enough to have found my niche twice in my life.

I'm a Forest School Leader. I applied for the course as I wanted to do something just for myself to prove that I can!
I am known for starting things and never finishing them as I get bored easily.
The course has been hard work but so enjoyable, and spending time in fresh air with happy smiling children is great fun.

@minnie881 I think you and DP have the same job!

Me? Not a vocation but I work in Quality Assurance. I love it because I get to support and advise people, get involved in lots of projects and get to work with everyone in my organisation. I have a degree and two post grads but I didn’t need them for the job by a long stretch. I started off as working in admin in the sector - excellent pay (29-33k starting). Now I’m on over 70k. Not too shabby.
