to find The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005 film) horribly disappointing?

Whole family is feeling tired and under the weather so we have ditched swimming this afternoon in favour of duvets on the sofa and a film.

Staggeringly bad special effects, awful green screen and weird lighting. No sparkly magic snow. It just looks and feels wrong!

I have seen the BBC animation on TV in the last 5 or 6 years on one of those weird freebies channels. I recorded it and watched it several times while off sick with HG.

The animated one that MeridianB linked to above was the only one I'd seen until the film version came out. It was great but Mr Tumnus was the creepiest thing ever and gave me nightmares as a child.

I loved the BBC versions as a child.

Though Lucy was fucking awful. I always wondered if she was someone important's daughter/niece/godchild as lord know why else anyone cast her.

Such a shame they didn't do The Magicians Nephew or The Last Battle. They were the best books.

I took DS to see this at the cinema when he was little .
The CGI special effects when they were galloping along on Aslan's back were naff .

Best bit was right at the end with Philip the Horse , talking Grin

I love the animated version! As pp have said the music is beautiful. In fact the whole soundtrack is amazing, brilliant actors Smile the animation isn't great though, it's definitely greater than the sum of its parts...

Apparently Netflix are making a series soon which will include all 7 books. Fingers crossed for that one.

The BBC version is the only one for me. I’ve read the books so many times. Lucy is a bit of a goodie-two-shoes and Susan is the worst (I was in a musical version of LWW a couple of years ago and massively miffed to be cast as adult Susan!) but it reminds me of Sunday tea times, eating cheese and crackers after swimming lessons!

The Silver Chair is the best book and tv series. The film of Prince Caspian made me really cross - why was Caspian an adult? And the love interest thing with Susan - just no.
