To take 3 kids in.

I've got a Kia Rio - £2.5k deposit, £144 a month on a 3 year plan. Includes 3 services and 10k miles. It might be a bit small as a family car but I've got 3 teenagers in the back of mine for short journeys.

because a 2k car would need taxing, servicing, MOT, breakdown cover etc it wouldn't be just 2k,

Erm, and a lease car with a £2k depositor and monthly payments of up to £200 wouldn't be just £2k either Confused

You still have to tax and get insurance on a leased car...

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 19/01/2019 14:57

You could get something great with those figures, Qashqai, Crossland are all within budget - Peugeot 2008 would come in way under budget 👍🏻

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 19/01/2019 14:57

@hula008 tax is included

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 19/01/2019 15:03

This actually comes in well under budget for both deposit and monthly payment, and it includes servicing and maintenance. In fact you could probably include insurance in your £200 per month budget!

Wrong, the leasing firm taxes it. Every year. You never have to tax it. And the insurance on a new car will usually be lower than the equivalent older car, as it comes with the latest safety features.

Problem with the Crossland is that you're driving a Vauxhall.

RagingWhoreBag · 19/01/2019 15:18

I went directly to Volvo. Got a V40 for £212 a month with no deposit. Sure there were cheaper deals too, but I went with that one as I was on a tight timescale and took what was available.

XH has a Skoda which he got on an even better deal for a faster bigger car. Lots around if you look.

I was previously paying £198 on a loan for my 5 year old Renault Scenic (albeit a much bigger car) but it was coming up to MOT and I knew was going to start costing me money so I went with a brand new car for £14 a month more.

Each to their own, the Crossland is a little underpowered for me (I tho my most models are 1.2 or something similar) I'm on my third lease, a Kia Sportage, not everyone's cup of tea and have gone up in price since I got mine last summer but mine is less than £240 a month with less than £1k deposit, 13k miles per year and a service plan included.

We've used Select Car Leasing - they have good deals depending on what you're looking for.

Notmorewashing · 19/01/2019 15:36

Thanks for the advice so far. Good to see some options available.

Never going for a second hand car again!

For some people 8k a year is enough. We have a 26 month old car that is just about to hit 16,000 miles
