To think this is a bit suspect

I’m on a local mum page and someone has posted today slagging off Clarks saying to look at the state of her sons shoes after only having them 5 days. 5 days?! They look more like 5 YEARS old!! Can’t help but feel they’re either older than she says or that he has massively mistreated them. He is 7.

AIBU to think she is pulling a fast one?!

ILL be honest, I can believe it. I brought dhoes for both my sons at that age and there pricy too. Neither pair lasted and we took great care of them, polished etc. Our looked worse than that after 5 weeks. Kids shoes should be made for kids, ie, scuff, water proof, durable.
I resorted to VANS after this and they lasted until the boys grew out of them, and I would shove them in the washing machine.

Saying that, I’ve brought ladies shoes from clarke’s and they’ve been really comfy and durable.

I work with shoes. That can definitely happen in 5 days if he is playing football before and after school. Going to an after school club for 2 hrs a day plus 6 hours of school, with running, kicking and scraping at every opportunity. I say this as a mum of 7 yr old DS and within the shoe industry. This is not a Clarks problem, it's a boy thing.

They can't be that old. You can still clearly read the inside logo.

I stopped buying Clark shoes for DS the year I spent nearly £40 on a pair that didn't even last 4 weeks. I found that £20 shoes from Tesco or Asda lasted 3 or 4 times longer. Clarks used to be synonymous with quality but not any more.

They need a polish and will look ok again, kids can be hard on shoes, don’t people polish shoes anymore!

Dd6 always has Clarke’s and they look shit until polished, all hers last until she’s outgrown.

I once had a mum knock on my door insisting my DC had her DC’s shoes, she showed me a scruffy pair of Clark’s insisting they weren’t her DC’s shoes as she had only bought them 3 weeks ago and these were scuffed and old. I got DC’s shoes- also only 3 weeks old and still looking brand new, and she claimed they belonged to her Dc......until I pointed out they were 2 sizes larger and had MY DC’s name written in them. Some kids are very heavy footed and scuff/drag their feet. (And parents don’t polish daily like we did)
I remember one mum had argued in Clark’s about her DD’s shoes and how they hadn’t lasted then, once Clark’s had reluctantly exchanged them, the DD admitted that her and her friends had purposely scraped the toes of their shoes along the playground in a competition to see who could scrape the colour off fastest!
